New to this site / Android 2.2 connectivity issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am the happy owner of a 2010 Skoda Octavia and have joined this site because I need some advice on bluetooth connectivity. My HTC Desire (Android 2.2) connected once to the BT phone system (Bolero), and I was able to place calls and play MP3s from my phone to the car's stereo through bluetooth. That, unfortunately, was the only time ever and I have not been able to do either since.

I saw many authors here say it is just not possible to connect Android phones, btu how come it worked for me before?

Really hope anyone here as some advice for me, handsfree calling is one of the most important features for me in this car that is otherwise fantastic.

Any hints?

Sebastian

I've got a HTC Desire with the Froyo update, if you rummage through the settings in there somewhere is one called "Car Dock", you should be able to specify which device it connects to, in my case "Volkswagen" and make it the primary connection.

AFAIK Andriod does not support RSAP so will not work with the Octy FL BT factory system.

The thing wrong with that argument is that it has connected previously, so therefore it should "by rights" do it again.

Another solution maybe to go through the pairing sequence again & see what happens. Mine occasionally will without warning drop the pairing, but then immediately reconnect it.

AFAIK Andriod does not support RSAP so will not work with the Octy FL BT factory system.

But apparently the newer bluetooth systems also support the Handsfree profile...

FWIW, I have a Winmo phone, and I have to select the Bluetooth services I want to use (handsfree / stereo headset) every time I connect my BT headphones or handsfree kit. Something similar may be required? I know in the case of Windoze, there was a freeware application that was supposed to fix this, but it didn't for me...

As I say, I realise it's a different OS, but it might help?

my desire will not connect with my factory bluetooth even with the froyo update :( mine is a late 2009 model so maybe that is why.

It seems weird that is once connected but now will not.

Evenng Star I've had a look and cannot find the "Car Dock" in the settings any chance you could let me know where about its located on the phone menu?

You can add it on a homescreen as a shortcut but I've never managed to find it without going down that route, it's in the settings shortcuts when adding items to the home screen...

I get the impression it'll only really be of use when plugged into a kit that identifies itself as a car kit though... I don't have it configured at all and have no issues connecting to the fiscon kit by default when in the car

The only Android phone that supports rSAP in a crippled way is Samsung Galaxy S and only SIM contacts. Some hope for full rSap is with Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) at Q1 2011.

cheers  found it first time! I will give it a go later and see if it works I wont hold my breathe though.

As for the whole rSAP issue if you do some google or alike search there are a few mobile phone forums out there and the member all complain about it. Hopefully the mobile makers will actually pay attention to what people want and sort it out yeah right as if! :giggle:

I don't want rSAP anyway... I know you get better reception on the phone calls, but my phone uses the data connection to warn me of traffic incidents. If I connected to an rsap bluetooth kit this data connection would be disconnected...

I'll live with the reception I've got thank you very much :)

There is an option of GPRS on Maxidot, thought i haven;t tried it. You enter the access point, probably the one that corresponds with your provider.
