Ohhhh No....

Hi all,

Going through some pretty nasty problems at the moment as the "topic description" would suggest. It all started when i noticed that i was getting the coolant level warning tone/light on every 2-3 weeks which I presumed was an external leak on a pipe somewhere. Failing to see any obvious signs of a leak I thought i would continue to monitor the situation before seeking any professional help. A week or so later the car began to become more and more difficult to start in the mornings practically after the weekend when it had stood for a few days. Eventually come the white smoke come in the mornings and boy did it come....absolutely bellowing out to the degree i thought the car was on fire ( I actually stopped to check ).. this smoke is white and stops after about 1-2 miles but can get a bit scary (more so for the poor sods behind me i would imagine). Reading several scary post on the web which explain that my engine (especially on my year) which is 2004 BKD (2.0tdi) was prone to developing a porous head which is scaring the pap out of me as the car has no warranty on. I've also heard for a Skoda Tech over the phone that the egr cooler is prone to leaking internally which is a major case of coolant loss on my engine.... Just wondering if anyone on here has had any similar symptoms and if they were resolved by either a bypass of the egr and cooler or a new cylinder head ?

Thanks for any input to this topic as well as any advice.
