Good morning everybody!

Having used my Superb for 4 1/2 years (although not too much - it is still below 37000 km), I finally encountered a need to fix smth. - a left side dipped beam bulb.

Now, -

Should I better change both of them, and go for smth. fancy (any suggestions?), or should I just replace the one with a generic bulb?

Should I ask smb. to do it for me, or is it fairly easy (mind you, apart from checking fluids and air pressure, I am not the best mechanic)?

Smb. could just point me to the appropriate thread, I sppose?

Thank you!

Welcome to Briskoda, I'm not sure on the answer to your query.

Welcome.

It's a difficult question to answer without knowing what you think of the OE dipped beam.

If you are happy with it then simply replace like for like (lift of the plastic cover on the power steering reservoir to give a bit more room to work) It is tight but can be done.

If however you find the dipped beam lacking then the now is the ideal time to think about upgrading the bulbs (Philips are a good upgrade) or you could even fit a xenon kit easily enough (not strictly legal due to the lack of headlamp wash and auto leveling).

Personally I remove the front bumper when changing a bulb as it takes about 5 mins to remove the bumper when you know what you are doing, the headlights can then be removed easily - but you will need some torx bits to remove the headlights, this may be a bit too involved from how you describe your skills?

Do both, as can guarantee that if you do just 1, the other will go very shortly after ( keep the working 1 as an emergency spare ).

Your Owners manual should be able to guide you, However depending on how much space you have behind the light to take out the old one, it could be tricky if you have stubby fingers like me.

Unless you want some thing special, I just go for std Skoda bulbs, or generics , whichever you feel comfortable with, as all bulbs will blow anyway no matter how much you pay.
