My Wheels have arrived

Featured Replies

My wheels arrived today and I'm over the moon.

Now I just need something to fit them toemoticon-0140-rofl.gif.

Skoda 7Jx16 ET45 fitted with Continental Wintercontact TS810 215/60 R16 99H.

Should do the job when my Yeti arrives before christmas.

Nice one! I'm getting mine as part of the deal with the dealer.

So all you now need is the hubcabs and/or little hubcaps for the centre - as I don't think it will be a good idea to leave those centre holes open. I've been beavering for months with these to get the right VW T5 centre caps and then the right size Skoda badges to fit to them! Hopefully I'll be able to show my handiwork soon!

Whilst I think of it, I shall go and find out how much a set of 16" Yeti wheel trims cost.

£28.66 each so £114.64 for the set.

I don't like full wheel trims... So opted for these:

There is no VW logo see. The word is spelt out so you find it difficult to read that it does not say Skoda. But in the end I also bought these to stick over them if I don't like them:

And these you can get from this shop: http://stores.ebay.c...&_sid=752618045

My favourite look however would be even smaller caps like these (but you need silver VW Caddy wheels - which hopefully Skoda can source me!):

Wow! VW quoted me £57 each for the silver ones!!!!!! And who knows what my dealer will say - the letter is going tomorrow asking about all this. At £28,66 I'll take black ones and just paint them silver myself!

[Edit: realised now you were pricing wheel trims and not wheels! Doh. VW quoted me £57 for silver steel wheels, not trims!]

But even so the little black caps on black wheels has a different sinisterness to it as well! Just picture those silver VW badges below as the Skoda ones I posted above:

I see the listings and pricing seem to change daily (both up and down) on mytyres, they must shift huge quantities of tyres.

Do these just push into the centre holes?

Are the steel holes the same size as the alloy ones? can the alloy centre be fitted to the steel wheels?

what size is the centre of the VW plastic shown above? (which size skoda badge is needed.)

Seeing as my car is white with black roof rails & elegance spec with backed out windows having black wheels with skoda centres might look OK.

Thats more than I paid for 1 tyre!

£95 inc vat last December from my dealer; with a little discount ;)

Well made and look good on the Monster but quite pricey, oh and more than I paid for a tyre or two rims; which ever comes first :giggle:

That is just the wheel trim price. Skoda wheels will cost £180 for 4 (£45 each) so the VW ones aren't that much more. Plus the tyres and the trims....££££.

I sourced my ContiWinterContact's locally at £112 fitted each. Mytyres want £130 for the 830P's. Plus fitting.

Mytyres were selling the TS830P for the 17" rims at silly money, when I last looked. I bought the wheel & tyre fitted for less than 1 tyre.

The TS810's seem to have reasonable write ups. Great in wet and snow. TS830P's good as well, but I'll save the money.

That T5 does look good with the black wheels.

And more than I paid for 5 alloys :o

Oh Mike I wish I had all the answers! But since I don't have the wheels or Yeti yet... Here goes. I'm still waiting for the Skoda centre badges but have those VW cente caps and measured them and thus bought 75mm Skoda badges. Yet to see if they fit. The VW caps fit over the wheel nuts and not the centre hole. I thought the same as you until they arrived. I thus have eight Skoda small caps bought from eBay that won't fit! So you learn! They were for a Felicia car and pick-up respectively with four nuts. My only worry is that these 5x112 caps won't fit with the one locking nut but that I'll only know once I have my Yeti. And if they don't I just won't have a locking nut in winter and replace it with a normal nut! I'll update this thread once I know.

As to silver or black wheels. I've decided to just go with the flow. If I get silver ones my aim is the Tiguan above. If I get black ones my aim is the T5 above and maybe a silver respray later. Time will tell.

Here is another pic showing black on black wheels:

Yep I think so too. Silver hubcaps will just make it look very basic. Totally black wheels on a white Yeti! emoticon-0103-cool.gif Bang on the money for style these days!

Winter Style.

Summer style: 17" alloys....

(unless I like the ride so much that I keep the winters on.)

I was in Berkeley Square today, glad not to be driving, average speed around it about 5mph, that aside, I thought of you Johann when I saw this Bentley in the showroom:

Awh Mike! hehehe But alas I think you must have thought of your own Bentoda or is that a Skodently? Mine won't be white so I think the effect won't be as dramatic as black on black wheels will be on your white monster!

How will you stick these on? I wouldn't have thought the adhesive on the back of these would stick to the plastic of the centre caps you have.

Nope they won't since the hub caps are convex in shape. The plan is to use a resin glue or a no-nails mastic to fill the area and thus give a flat surface and be the "glue" at the same time.

I saw a VW Caddy in Greece with these caps on and I have to say you could not see that they were from a VW since the lettering is so small and upside down for most of it! So I might not even use the caps. I'll see once I have the winter wheels on.

I can find the part number on their back if you want some as well?

Saw a white Belgian reg Yeti in Callander 10 days ago, with black (Elegance?) Skoda Alloys. They seem to have been painted with an Anthracite metallic finish, Actiually looked better than I thought it would, and presumably doesn't show the dirt/brake dust!
