Octavia RS Turbo Pressure Problem Help Please

Featured Replies

I've searched around the site and can't quite seem to find the answer i need so i'm hoping that one of you will be able to point me in the right direction please.

i've noticed recently that the turbo doesn't seem to be kicking in at 2k as it's supposed to, all i seem to get is a hissing sound rather than the whistling i used to get. the hissing is very similar to that of the DV. however on lift-off i do still get the psssst from the DV as you would expect but it's not as powerful as it used to be. also the car is using more fuel that it used to and i'm not sure if this is related.

I'm not sure if it's the DV not closing properly, a vacuum fault or hose, Diverter valve or the waste-gate (if it has one fitted as standard).

could some one point me in the right direction to start please and give me a rough indication of where the component are roughly located.

this is the first turbo engined car i've had and as such don't fully understand how all the elements work together.

any help that anyone can give will be much appreciated.

thanks in advance.

you need to scan the car for faults buddy as it could be lots of things
