Help! Control iPod through Car Stereo - Stream HU ?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks ,

Kindly help me , I am in a fix . My 07 Octavia came with Stream HU with AUX in , wherein i connect my Ipod . But Since i am not able to control through the car Stereo ,its becoming too difficult to manage while driving . After each song i have to lower the car speed to pick up the iPod and control which is really putting me off now ..

Kindly let me know a good Car iPod Control Adapter which is Safe , having good compatibility with the Stream HU and let me control the iPod through my Car head unit without polluting/degrading the sound quality . Kindly also confirm if there's any other way to get the controls in your HU without changing it ?

Thanks . Any help will be highly appreciated .

I use a griffin AutoPilot. http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/autopilot. plugs into the ipod at the bottom, a lead then pugs into the3.5 mm aux socket and the unit plugs into the piggy socket. on top of the unit is a play/pause button forward and reverse. It also charges the ipod.

Mostly I have the ipod on shuffle and use the forward button to skip through the tracks. Not pretty but works a treat, plus its not car specific so you can move it around easily.

Why not just make a playlist with your favourite songs. Or play the default list which has your top rated songs on it. Otherwise the above idea is cheap and useable in any car with an AUX in.

You can get a kit that plugs into the stream that replaces the autochanger. This will give you access to 6 playlists which you access via the CD changer controls on the headunit, there are several manufacturers Connects2 being the most well known.

As mannyo put a changer emulator is probably a better investment for head unit control without sound quality loss. The Denision Gateway 300 is another CD Changer emulator that allows Ipod, USB and AUX in. You are also not limited to the amount of tracks or playlists you can have. The control system to allow this can be a bit confusing at first, but you soon settle into it.

Thanks guys for your replies . The dension 300 is quite expensive . For now i am looking for a cheaper option , something like an Ipod stand . Found one , i shall install it soon .
