Wood Trim & Wheel Extensions

Featured Replies

Well, Hobins have come up trumps it would seem. I have ordered the 'poplar' wood trim, albeit I haven't got the SM yet and will not do so for some time but it gives me a warm cosy feeling to know that I'll be ready to provide the SM with that classy Gobi/wood look the moment it does arrive  . Cost was £54 and pence for the main trim and £16 and pence for the smaller trim around the light switch. To that I will need to add the courier costs from Manchester to Kent but it gives me what I want so I'm content with that. Apparently supplied directly from the Czech republic.

The wheel arch extensions are not available yet as not authorised for use in the UK (which I guess the trim must be despite not being available through the UK dealer network). Still I can afford to wait and see if they become available before the SM arrives (looking on the bright side of the long lead times!).

Any photos of the wheel arch extensions?

Result, make sure your dealer knows it is obtainable - rub it in :p

Tried that, their attitude was 'well it cannot be from a legitimate source' - which of course it is, it's just Skoda.cz, not Skoda .uk albeit I didn't know that at the time I spoke with them. In fairness I imagine the vast majority of dealers would have come back with the same response as my local dealer but through this forum we seem to have found a dealer that can source parts/accessories direct from the Czech republic so long as the parts/accessories are deemed acceptable for the UK market (So why the hell Skoda cannot put them in their UK brochure is anyone's guess).

Well my poplar wood trim has arrived from Hobins, excellent service I must say despite them being 200 miles away  I cannot say the same for DHL who completely mucked up the parcel number so I ended up tracking another parcel entirely but all well that ends well. Now all I need is an SM to fit it to... :giggle:

Interestingly I see that the wheel arch extensions I wanted are now available here: http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/Yeti/Yeti-ORIGINAL--Skoda-Autoas-fender-flares-full-set but at a heady 279 euros plus I guess P&P (£236 + PP). Despite their comments to the contrary the normal Skoda price is £157 (at current CZK to GBP exchange rate) so that's quite a mark up they're getting. My efforts to source them from Czech Republic faltered when despite Skoda.cz putting me into contact with a dealer, the dealer decided to blank me!

So I'll wait a while (as my SM isn't even a twinkle in Mr Skoda's eye yet) to see whether the cost drops when it isn't such a new line for the website quoted above. But if any of you rich people fancy your arches flared you know where to go.

I must admit I think the arches look B) But then I guess I would say that as I've been hankering after them since 90000 spotted them at the Paris Motor show. Whether they actually protect the arches to any greater degree is probably open to conjecture but in combination with the rear foils they will not do any harm. To my mind they just look so right with the 'aggressive' stance of the Yeti. Ironically my SM will be Black Magic so I may not get quite the same aesthetic benefit as others with lighter colour bodywork.

Will mudflaps work with the arches?

If it's a choice I'd keep the mudflaps.

Im sure it said not compatible with front mud flaps and park assist (due to the position of the front/side sensor on the front wheelarch) BUT I cant see how both of these couldnt be worked around with a little imagination. :)

It is amazing how such a tiny detail as these arches can just lift a car (in my view). Two examples of cars with and without where the ones with just look SOO much better:

The Fiat Panda:

The Ford Fusion:

And it is all down to these bits making the wheels look bigger I think. But the price is a bit much I think. Yikes. And with so many bits to fit you just know how much Skoda will charge you to fit it as well.

I had this link to the arches - I think it came from a thread here somewhere. My link The price there translates to about GBP160.

On another Czech site it specifically says that they protect the wheel arches.

As you'll see, they say not with parking assist or front mudflaps. The other thing I've discovered is these have to be glued into place. There's a special primer/activator (HHA381016) and adhesive (HHA381014). They show it requiring 3 units of adhesive. I don't see this being a DIY job - unless someone knows otherwise?

Thanks Allena although this is the official site I was referring to when I mentioned the cost at being £157, unfortunately it is these that we cannot get in the UK as they have not been sanctioned for use in this country, yeah stupid I know. They are of course exactly the same product provided by the Superskoda website but with a significant mark up. Hence I'm going to wait a couple of months to see if the price through Superskoda goes down to nearer the official cost (another option might be to source through another European country dealer where they are already available). I'll look then at what it takes to fit them, I'm good with glue  Hmmm, now I wonder if they are available in France ;)

Afraid not available here as far as I know (Don't get me started about Skoda France  and some people think Skoda UK are nuts! )

I have a suspicion that this price is before VAT - which is 20% in CZ.

They're in stock at This Dealer

And then this one lists them as coming with installation instructions - but then says they should be fitted by a dealer 2nd Dealer

Does anyone know if these wheel arch extensions are available through the German dealer network?

FocusZtec: as far as I can tell, no. I sent an email to three Skoda dealers in Dusseldorf, and none of them could supply. :(

Thanks, I make that £219 including adhesive but still to add P&P. I doubt that I will go for them quite yet as I've a three month wait for the SM but I have e-mailed the shop you mention as when I tried a 'dummy' purchase it would only permit shipping charges to be picked for delivery in the Czech Republic despite allowing me to register as a UK customer. I'll feedback on how I get on.

I think the second 'dealer' you mention is Skoda itself and they only provide to the dealer network.

Oh, thanks for that. I guess The Czech rep. isnt too far to drive from Germany! :p
