Helix Clutch/smf

Featured Replies

As far as i am aware i can just use a standard clutch relese bearing.

Where can i find flywheel bolts? I've tried searching Helix on google and it's not come up with anything i require.

The Clutch/flywheel has done 1000 miles and the guy who is fitting it said it makes sence to renew the bolts .

Any help will be appriciated.

Cheers

Any metal store as long as there cap screws in high tensile they'll be fine

The bolts with it will prob do!

Yes standard release bearing is fine

Don't happen to know the part code do you? :D

Let me know how you reckon it sounds when it's on. Just bought a Fabia with a Helix clutch and SMF and I find it gives a bit of an extra rattle at idle and low revs (as I am led to believe is the case with most SMFs) Just interested as to how much noise is normal.

my diesel Ibiza has an SMF fitted, it's noisy. as was Jason's Fabia+SMF when I heard it at Bovington

lots of noise is normal

Yeah, I know, I told myself I didn't care to start with but its starting to get on my nerves. The justification of being able to deal with big torque was great but I don't want to run higher boost until I can sort a Hybrid turbo as I reckon it would kill the KKK stone dead. So I'm running round with an expensive and noisy SMF and clutch I could probably run without. The extent of my rapid driving has been the 3 opportunities I've had to actually overtake safely in the last week (they were 3 lovely moments of being squashed into my seat though).

don't ditch it!

you only need a turbo

get saving!

Agreed, just turn up the Stereo more if its bothering you. ;)

Mine isnt even loud, its loud at biting point in neutral thats it. The chatter sat in neutral is about as noisy at the engine. Well worth the money i say.

tbh i think it would annoy me also, even if its fine and dandy i generally associate rattles/noises with a problem and try to fix it....emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

The chatter isn't particularly noisy but the sound of it is harsher and more noticeable than the engine noise. I keep my foot on the clutch when stopped. The issue with the turbo is that I would need a custom map again after it was fitted so realistically it's going well over a grand. If I'm getting another map then it'd be as well to make the milltek a full system... you know how it goes, in for a penny in for a pound. As it stands the car isn't running high boost so I'm considering whether just to get the Garret turbo so I can feel more confident running higher boost and leaving the current map to see how it goes.

nah stuff that....

that sounds a rubbish plan!

bit of stainless welded in for £50

get a hybrid

and a custom map for £350

MAN UP!

HAHA! Aye, to be fair though, I don't have a great deal of expendable income at the moment due to our new house and it would be nothing more than selfish for me to plough thousands of pounds into a car when we already do without holidays and other bits and pieces. All in good time. In the process of selling off a lot of stuff I don't need to reinstate some of my savings since buying the car. When that's done I can look at spending money on it again. first priority are a set of decent coilovers and some new speakers as the OE ones seem to break up as soon as the volume goes above radio 4 levels.
