Got my vrs, just got a few questions

Featured Replies

Hi

Got my vrs on friday and im really chuffed!! Just wondering, when im at a junction just about to pull off, if i give the accelerator a bit of a poke you can hear the turbo kick in then off again, almost like a quite whistle? Is this normal? Ive never owned a turbo diesel before so wasnt sure?

And between 1k and 1.5k revs it sounds like there is something vibrating (passenger side), not sure if its inside or outside? Was not sure if it was the engine at first but im 95% its not. Anyone else had this noise?

Sorry if they sound like dumb questions its just ive never owned one before so i thought i would just check.

:)

Cheers

I'm sure the whistle noise is normal, mine is the same. I think it's just the dump valve opening and releasing the pressure.

Not sure about the vibration, have a look in the engine bay and make sure nothing is vibrating against the bulk head.

The whistle is the turbo. There is no dumpvalve on a diesel, as it doesn't have a throttle butterfly like a petrol turbo. The turbo sounds loud on the spool up at 1,500rpm, so i wouldn't worry.

Is the vibration coming when you are booting it at 1k-1.5k? Or just driving about normally?

glove box lid probably mate thats common on them

.....or the passenger seatbelt clip rattling against the seat trim. Try pushing the passenger seat all the way back and see if it stops

Hey its when im driving around normally or stationary and hold the revs. If i boot it it doesnt do it. Its not the glove box or the seat belt, it sounds like its coming from inside the dashboard. If it was the engine it would sound like it was coming from the middle or drivers side, right? Also if it was the engine then would i hear it when the bonnets up? Because you can only hear it from iside the car?

Also with the turbo does it start working from 1k revs then kick in about 1.5k or will you hear it all the time?

None of these things sound particualy bad or loud its just i have no idea what to listen out for for any potential problems. lol.

Cheers
