2004 Fabia vRS Wiper Issue

Featured Replies

Evening,

Seem to have an issue with my wipers at the moment.

Recently, the wipers were on as it was raining and they suddenly stopped in the fully up position. I pressed fully down on the stalk and they moved down a little bit, I pressed the stalk again and they moved down a little bit more, and I had to repeat until they returned to the bottom position.

I then reset the stalk and turned them back on and they started working fine again until today.

They suddenly stopped and wouldn't even work, however the screenwash worked (typical). I had to stop the car, turn it off and on again and then they worked before stopping 2 minutes later. I turned the car off and on again and then they have been working ever since.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Check the fuses?

I had the fuse issue last winter and remember reading through the common wiper issue thread however this seems different.

I haven't checked the fuses as it seems too intermittent, fine for days then broken on others. Plus restarting the ignition fixes it so far...

Hi guys im having this problem with my 04vrs fabia and its just way too annoying to live with!

It all started when the recent sniw came and they just stopped working suddenly and if i keep flicking the stalk to off position, steady and fast positiins rapidly then after a while it does start working again only for another 30seconds then off again. And also when they stop working, if i turn the car off and on again then they start working again but only to stop a few seconds later...

Can anyone please help me out here? Thanks

Can you move them by hand with not much resistance? I had this on another car and the linkage had seized up so bad the motor would move the wipers so far and then give up. A flick of the stalk would then sometimes make them move again.

Tried greasing the linkage up but it were too far gone so had to buy a replacement

Check the relay

I tried moving them.by hand but they dont budge so dont think thats the problem...

Where should i be checking next guys? Where abouts is the relay for it?

Seems to be an intermittent type of problem as sometimes they work normal usually after driving aroud for a hour or so. But if i get in the car and its already raining then i have to flick the stalk up and down quite alot to make them work and even then they are pretty useless hence why im not driving it as regularly :-(

If they are very hard to move maybe they are seized - I would recommend doing this when the engine and ignition is off though.

So they should move slightly by hand?

They should move by hand yes, You will feel resistance but you shouldn't feel alot.

My wipers don't move by hand at all - why should they? They're working perfectly by the way using the stalk...

Hmmm... They dont seem to be moving at all by hand even with engine and ignition off... I dont think they are siezed tbh seems an electrical fault but has me baffled atm... Any more ideas guys? Cheers

Personally I think dirty connectors or a wiring break that's sometimes making - but that's probably too obvious.
