Bing bong light gone!

Featured Replies

After only 2 months and 2400 miles a rear bulb has blown on the vRS. As the title suggests, a warning bing and a light on the dash signified something was wrong.

Question is, do I buy/fit a new bulb or will Skoda do this for free?..

You ARE joking right?

Bulbs, along with wiper blades & screenwash are consumables, and therefore not covered by warranty.

HTH :)

Even us posh Octy owners don't get bongs and indicators on the dash for blown bulbs, so think yourself lucky... you could have driven around for 3 years and never found out... ;)

I had a fog lamp bulb go in my Galant after only a couple of months...dealer did it free as a goodwill gesture

It's gotta be worth a try...

Those nice guys at our local dealer replaced my wipers on warranty when they were streaking in the first few weeks ;)

That's because we have a good dealer. ;)

Seriously though i wouldn't think of asking them to change a bulb. It would cost more in fuel to get there :D

Thought you only turned to boost controller up to "11" when going out for a play ;)

Very true...in the case of the wipers, I just asked for a price while I was in, and they offered to do them for me as they'd gone so quick :)

It certainly pays to have a good dealer...really must put a review in :)

You will probably find that the dealer swallowed the cost of them rather than returning them to Skoda (claim would get rejected) to keep you happy.

I usually do the same with bulbs.

Quite possibly...either way, it was good customer service, and it's nice to have a dealer like that.

If your local halfords is closer, it will proberbly be cheaper to buy one than drive to the dealer and get them to change it.

My record for bulb life, is a new headlight bulb that I changed in the mondy. Life of bulb was 5 minutes. Brand new from packet, and no I didnt touch the glass.

Rear tail light bulb went on mine the day I got it. As Geoff said, wouldn't be worth the cost in time and fuel to go and complain, just went to halfords and got a new one for

Actually, my dealer is closer to me than Halfords so yes it would be worth it!

:D

Well, I replaced the bulb in question as I didn't want to drive around illegally.

The light still doesn't work! the old bulb looks fine to me.

Checked with the handbook suspecting a broken fuse and sure enough, both left and right bulbs are fused seperately

It'll have to wait 'till tomorrow now though as I have no spare fuses.

Bugger! I knew I should have left it to the dealer!
