New car - 1.2 HTP 12V ! but a few questions....

Featured Replies

Bought missus a new 1.2 HTP (12v) - cracking car for her only a level 1 trim though but with aircon.

Just wondering a couple of things tho

Firstly, can you use a fault code reader on these cars like earlier models ? Where is the diag port even ?

Secondly, realised the REMOTE part of central locking is optional, seen the rclick but rather keep standard as Im sure its more easily enabled.

BKA 700 003 is the standard kit to add remote to existing central locking, and been thinking of taking on the 2 yr servicing and would decide on this.

In fact wonder if it just needs to be turned on in the ECU then it could perhaps just be a matter of pairing remotes in the usual fashion, if that was the case I could be tempted to just get a standard 2-3 button remote control and have a play as that optional one is minging.

Thanks in advance

Not sure what type of port it is, but i'm 99% sure you can :) Its under the steering wheel, theres a long horizontal piece of trim that pops off if i remember correctly to reveal a port.

Cheers chap, that is not very common knowledge, it hasn't got the standard locatoin for the plug, plus it was very dark last night so not much chance to fumble about to find it !

Nice to know it has one

Hi there.

My father had a Fabia 1. I went to price remote locking for him. The fob was under a ton, the dealers said that labour would be astronomical as the electrics would need major work.

Don't know if he was "fobbing" me off.

that's what they said to me, if u get an independent specialist to do it then it's a risk as they may not have done a fabia II before

to put dealer's costs into perspective, they quoted something like £160 to colour code the mirror covers but if you go to the bodyshop where they do skoda repairs, it's £40+vat

The upgrade for the remote control for central locking (BKA 700 003) is absolutely minging

Apparently the fabia levels beyond 1 actually use the standard remotes which haven't really changed, so I'd be surprised if they couldnt be used but I dont know if the frequency is shared with earlier models (2/3 button)

Id be surprised if it couldnt just be enabled in ECU to be honest, but I dont know if anyone has access to instructions that might confirm exactly what they do in 2.5 hours (other that whistle and make tea)

I found out myself, it does require the kit and this has something like a 2 wire connected receiver that goes along with the remote, and substancial work to dismantle the dash to get to the CCU to hook it up. So I guess its a pretty fair installation estimate.
