Not difficult no but you have to take a fairly big drill bit to your pride and joy ! Not for those of a nervous diposition.

There's several posts from around the time of the VAGparts group buy detailing how to fit & the difference it makes.

For what it's worth, turn-in is much sharper, and the steering feels a lot more direct and willing to go where you want it to.

Ride is a little harsher, but that's only to be expected.

My comments are based on fitting both upper & lower braces at the same time, i have no idea what difference fitting 1 or the other makes
