Boot wont open.....happened a few times now

Featured Replies

Well it happened again. She heard the click and it popped the lock but did not open....

Is there a solution...? I'm hoping there is a manual release in the driverside footwell.

Please advise..

You can open it from the inside. My boot has not opened for a few weeks now, need to get to an auto electrican to get it traced. Mine does not "pop" when I press the boot lid button or the key fob.

No... The manual release - for emergency use only - is on the lock itself. How good is she at boot crawling?

You case appears to be different to the numerous other threads on here since it's getting that far. Perhaps the lock itself merely needs a bit of lubrication? I generally use 3M sprayable white grease or PTFE lubricant in these situations depending on the context

Yup maybe. I'm going to soak it in WD40 when i get home and go around the door seals with gummplefdge...

check that she has opened all the doors first as it stays locked if not. also if you apply pressure towards the boot and press the release at the same time this usually sorts it (i usually push on the skoda badge with my palm whilst pressing the boot button in

Generally I'd say anything is better than WD40...

Right....I tried the lubricant. Thought I solved it. Came back a few hours later and still the same problem..

Tried using my hand to open instead of the keyfob and it opens everytime. So I think it has something to do when the keyfob is pressed as the boot just stays stuck....

Also released I have to reseal the back doors again... ;(

Our 2000 SDI does this. Our answer is to unlock all (of course!), then close all doors and use key in driver's door and don't lock but turn to unlock position again. You'll hear a click from all doors. The boot then opens normally. Don't know what is happening, but it seems consistent. Hope it works for you.

This started to happen on mine a week ago so I did a search and found the article in the link below which I found interesting. I decided lubricating the lock would be the place to start when I get a chance to have a look at it. Meanwhile, boot jammed again last Thursday so I leant on the lid just under where the wiper is tried the handle at the same time and the boot opened. Then, while the boot was open, I just kept pressing the handle about twenty times and you could hear the mechanism working. Hoped this might just free everything off and keep me going for a bit. Touch wood, (though it's early days yet) it hasn't stuck since.

Hope this helps.
