Coolant Warning

Featured Replies

Since the temp has dropped, upon start-up, the coolant warning light illuminates on my dash, and if I re-start the car it goes away. I've checked the coolant level and all is ok. :wonder: I'm guessing the sensor is out. I take it it's the sensor on top of the coolant bottle. Any one changed one of these? Is it easy as I've not really had a proper look yet and I'm not sure where the end of the loom is yet? And of course: how much for a new one.

Cheers

Fitz.

Read elsewhere in the forum that cleaning may be necessary. Not sure how aggresive one needs to be but I'd start with a tooth brush carefully! If everything works OK, then flush out the header tank with a hose, drain it and refill with coolant.
