First Time Skoda Buyer

Featured Replies

I will come clean very early on, im a Rover/MG lover lol!

Car History:

95 Rover 100 1.1 Kensignton SE

98 Ford Escort 1.6 16v

98 Rover 200 1.4 16v Si

02 MG ZR 1.4 16v

03 MG ZR 2.0 TD

98 Rover 200 1.4 16v IS (a borrowed car for 2 weeks between selling my ZR and buying my Skoda)

03 Skoda Octavia 1.8T 20v VRS

and im just about to turn 21 lol (guess how many of them ive actually sold)

im a very fussy car buyer lol. nd the skoda octavia was literally the only other car that appealed to me other than ZRs and was as quick than the 1.8 VVc but had more extras and looked good :p

Purchasing old MG METRO as a 2nd car in february lol! drop the 1.8 VVC into that .... 160bhp in a car that weighs less than ghandi lol!

But yes Ive had the octavia 1.8t 20v VRS 03plate a week and ive got the oil pickup low oil pressure problem, so only driven it a very little atm AND I LOVE IT!

Took alot of MG mockery and Rover ridicule and i expect i will take some for a Skoda, till i meet them at the lights... hehe :p

Anybody need any advice on bits and bobs on the 200s and ZRs im your man but as far as skodas go ... im a MASSIVE nubcake

I intend with some suttle mods such as Catback exhaust, air intake, more efficient intercooler, doing somethign with that extra cubbyhole in my dash a remap when i can afford for it to go bang and so on

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

My first car was an mg zr too, 105 but had the mk2 zs alloys;) Im pretty clued up on them now! I was the same when i purchased my fabia and now i love it!

ive owned some rovers and used to do alot of work on there engines i.e in rover and freelanders and in the lotus

very easy to work on but they are pants

the very reason why they replaced the lotus ellise with toyota engines lol

very delicate heads and very poor headgaskets

good luck with the octy you will enjoy

p.s i wouldnt say your fussy with that selection of cars lol

I'm just about to turn 21 as well but I've only had 2 previous cars and been without a car for a year due to lack of funds and insurance prices :(

anyhow, welcome aboard!

I had no car for 4months because i totalled the escort and drove the first rover 200 into a lampost lol!. so lack of funds stabbed me aswell :p (completely self inflicted)

hehe im enjoying rubbing it into people that i can afford insurance on a 1.8 turbo lol.... while my mates are still running around in 1.2 clios and things..

The benefits of going solo with your insurance as soon as you pass your test are there to be looked at! the 1.8T is only £30 more to insure than the 2.0TD MG ZR i had.

Everybody will have to pay a ouch value premium when they first insure a car by themselves so why not do it straight away :)

Thanks for the welcomes and nice to meet you dave

Me second policy by myself and its still too much haha!

octy vrs already has 312mm brakes, and why just front coilovers? if your wanting to go coilovers weitecs are a good choice.
