Central locking

Featured Replies

When I get into my Roomster having unlocked it within 15 seconds the central locking activates and if I move about without switching on the ignition the car alarm is triggered. Any ideas why this is?

Cheers

It's likely that the microswitch in the door lock that senses if the door is open, has gone faulty. It doesn't know you opened the door, so it relocks.

Does the interior light come on?

Yes I think so.

Yes I think so.

Have you unlocked it using the key in the drivers door or the remote control part of the key fob? My understanding is that the car (at least the 2010 version) is designed for security to be operated using the remote control radio key fob. If you use the key then the alarm system is not fully deactiveated unless you put the key into the ignition with 15 seconds of unlocking the door.

Apologies for my spelling - the car was unlocked using the remote

Are you sure the interior light comes on when you open the door and goes off when you close it?

Not when you unlock it - when you physically open the door.

I'm not sure about the lights - could you explain what difference this makes?

It shows if the car knows the door has been opened.

IIRC, if you remotely unlock the door but don't open the door, it will relock.
