FACTORY VISIT

Featured Replies

Just back from a 5 day break in Prague with SWOMBO,wonderful medieval city with plenty to see & do.Never seeen so many Skodas of all vintages.

Went to Skoda Factory @ Mlada Boleslav by train/bus 1 hr from Prague.Had a lovely young female English speaking guide all to myself for 3 hours!!!!.She knew her facts about Skoda & its history.

Also went round Museum & took some photos, not allowed to take camera or mobile phones into Factory unfortunately.

On the Octavia production line which I visited they are producing 739 cars/day @ present with a max capacity of 800/day.They have their own foundry where 35 ton rolls of Zinc plated metal are smelted down & it takes 35 hrs from metal to end of production line per car of which 3.5 hrs is on production line from bare shell to turn key car.

I spent an hour watching guys fit out cars in teams of 4 on a rolling line, and boy do they work hard, their average age being 35 & under & they earn 15,000 Euros/year-----cheap labour rates?? cheaper cars.

The factory & Museum were operating theatre clean & everyone was really friendly, would recommend a visit to any die-hard Skoda lovers, you won`t be disappointed.

Glad you had a good time Fergi mate, I think they might be a brisky trip planned for next year.

Glad you enjoyed the trip.

Looks like you may have let the cat out of the bag around production stats & what SUK are telling customers emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Did you manage to pick up some number plate holders?

sod the holder............................engine's, gearboxes, turbos etc etc etc ;)

glad the trip was good

So with a 16+++ week waiting time why are they not building them at maximum capacity?? :wonder:
