Paddles are fantastic.

You don't really seem to know what you want! Your obviously not convinced so don't buy one then!

I've had both the derv fabia vrs and now the tsi vrs. Both great cars.

If you want a derv then buy the seat I suppose.

Another thing. I bet the demo vrs wasn't running on super unleaded thus meaning reduced power and performance. Although it's fine to run on 95 Ron it's recommended that you use at least 98 Ron as stated in the owners manual and inside the filler cap.

Well the trip back from Manchester on Sat almost made my mind up for me - unless the vRS is seriously rapid (anyone with an estate?)

You're more than welcome to come for a spin in my vRS estate (as we're very local to each other) but I don't get it until mid-December. I assume the local Skoda dealer (Progress or Darlingtons?) will have 'yours' before then and sold it if you don't make the choice when it arrives with them.

Local dealer is Darlingtons - been told the car they have on order (the one I would be swapping over to) is due for wk 49 build so probably also be mid-December.

Was the Progress demo I tested but didn`t ask what fuel it was using.

Mine is currently (and hopefully staying at) build week 46 so there's a fair chance you could take a ride in mine before you have to make a decision with Darlingtons. However, as you've already got the sports suspension and vRS alloys maybe a little remap could easily make it a 'vRS lite' without the additional £4k outlay you're looking at. The fly in the ointment will be the 5 speed gearbox. I had a remapped Roomster diesel (149 bhp :D) and the 5 speed box spoilt the fun that could be had on acceleration and made motorway cruising rather tiring due to the higher revs than if it was a 6 speed.

The two (long) test drives I did in a vRS was running on super unleaded (probably Tesco 99 as it's close to the dealer) and it was lively in 'drive' and quite nutty in 'sports'!

Hum think the "vRS Lite" is actually a good suggestion!

5 gears are okish and Skoda have slightly lied about the TSi`s top speed, 120mph is only just under 5,000 rpm so you still have another 1,000 rpm to go. 5th goes from 1,000 rpm at 30 all the way up so its incredibly long legged but I have already looked at 6-speed conversions and its about £500 to do so not horrendous.

Will see if the vRS is worth the outlay first!

Yawn.
