Getting close to the delivery of the vRS to the local dealership that the dealership offered me as a swap for my TSi so wondering what people think I should do.

Will cost about £4k to swap up to the vRS but wondering if it would be better to keep the existing TSi 105 or swap over to the vRS.

The vRS will only have parking sensors and cruise control as options and will be Black Magic.

The current car is an Elegance but also didn`t have any options fitted to it as it was a stock car.

Would appreciate advice!

No contest, take the vRS.

'Head' says keep the Elegance (more toys etc.)... but 'Heart' says vRS all the way!

I'm hardly impartial though as my vRS Estate will (hopefully) be in my possession mid-December

Hi mate,

Poll result says it all, Ive had mine 4 years, best move I have ever made.

NB: Im in WGC as well. I will keep a look out for a new shiny Black vRS. You know it makes sense.

Me too! WGC is clearly a hotbed of intelligent and informed Skoda (and soon to be vRS) owners! :D

I love my TSI but if i could change it to a VRs i would but the mrs might not agree. :S

Im with you the missus would have a fit:giggle:

vRS all the way.

I'm gutted that I should have got one but funds do not allow at present.

The vRS...No contest at all.

The difference is massive!!

After a TDi, went shopping for a TSi, sensible head on, keywords MPG, No VAT, Torque, cheaper fuel, blah sensible blah.

But I just had to drive that shiny VRS in the showroom, just for, you know, the experience. Yeah.

Had to have one, head over-ruled, keywords MPH, DSG, relentless acceleration, OMG.

2200 miles later.

Regrets, none!

I`d stick with the Tsi mainly because I dont like the VRS...whats so special about them....I saw one in my dealers showroom about 2 weeks ago and honestly it looked like a `Pimp Mobile`...Think it was a bilious colour of green with white wheels.... You`d have to pay me to drive something as orrible as that......still suppose it might have been a bit of a bird puller when I was 20....on the other hand.... :giggle:

Good luck with the decision..

Hello

Avoid DSG, that secondry clutch buggers up you looking at robbing a bank to repair.... and they not too reliable, work for a hire company i could tell you a few stories on the DSG.... my honest advise avoid like a plague ridden vagabond !!!

I can only comment on my experience with the DSG box.

I have had 2 Octavia’s with the DSG box and had no problems.

Which is why my Fabia Elegance, when it arrives, will also have a DSG box.

Even if there was a problem with the DSG ...... Isn't that what a warranty is for?

Nonsense.....The new 7 speed one is VERY reliable...even the new 6 speed as used in diesels is now reliable.

It did have a few issues but they have now been sorted

If you really want the vRS go for it. Having driven it it is a fantastic combination.

My only concern is the long term reliability of the combined supercharger/turbo engine as it hasnt bee around very long in its 180 bhp guise.

Thats why I have gone for the Octy diesel vRS Manual ( + I perfer the economy ).

FYI - Our local dealer has a White vRS, & my son spoke to the guy from the dealers running around in it - round town display is saying 25mpg ( thats not pushing it) emoticon-0149-no.gifemoticon-0164-cash.gifemoticon-0183-swear.gif

Hope others are getting better than this.

Im not sure what to do as I can get the Elegance is reasonably rapid, but not sure if I want a DSG box as I much prefer the manual gearbox.

If i could have anything I`d have the Elegance as it is now but with the vRS engine and a manual gearbox. I`ve test driven a vRS and whilst I think its a very quick car I`m still unsure as to if its that much more special than my current Fabia.

Could get the TSi engine swapped or tuned up for the difference in price to the vRS but dont know if it would be worth it. Even if I got the vRS i found the hatch I tested didnt seem quite as quick as the Polo GTi i also tested so would be getting the Fab tuned anyway.

Thats why I am unsure if it woukd be easier to keep and tune the current Fab or upgrade and tune the new one.

Don`t want to be ungrateful as the other half has brough the existing car and the Superb as well and they would be paying for the vRS as well which is why I am unsure!

A guy who repairs and breaks Skud's recon they screwed up big time when they re-done the Vrs... I think he refered to the petrol, as opposed to the diesel but not too sure so I am only offering a slight insight as I know nowt about it really. Mind, most people will only really need the power of the TDI, the Vrs is just showing off how quick you can race to the next set of lights, only to wait there longer than anyone else! :giggle:

I'll consider changing to a VRS when/if they decide to offer a diesel engine. My dad has a Octavia VRS and we test drove a petrol and diesel and found the diesel much more fun. I understand the tsi vrs was designed to offer diesel torque but i cant help but think they've dropped a clanger but not at least offering a diesel.

I have an Octavia vRS Diesel...believe me...the 1.4 Ts1 engine is incredible

I really dont think Skoda messed up at all..Its fantastic!!!

sooo powerful and smooth.

Stip messing around listening to people who rekon this and that..

We have one...Its awesome

Get it bought!!

Hot Hatches are good fun, I have had a couple in my time but I only used the extra power and improved handling around 20% of the time and the rest of the time i could have been in any normal hatch. Four grand is a reasonable amount of cash to pay out.

Well the trip back from Manchester on Sat almost made my mind up for me - unless the vRS is seriously rapid (anyone with an estate?) I think the TSi is staying! It will keep up with the vRS if the offical stats are correct for it - suprised it actually went that fast.

Don`t think that the vRS is worth £4K for 3 secs less to get to 62, not been in an estate vRS so not really a fair comparison to mine as only been in a hatch.

I have the estate. All I can say it's fantastic. Where shouts do you live? I'm West Yorkshire if you want to have a look at mine. Father in law has the 1.2 tsi hatch. Both great cars but you wouldn't be disappointed with the vrs by any means. Different league.

Hertfordshire. Would have prefered a derv vRS but looks like thats not coming (yet - interesting Seat list the 2.0 CR 140 in the Ibiza FR so might there be a derv version coming???)

Other than that i don`t know what the paddles behind the wheel would be like to live with. Unless the vRS is much faster than the stats say it is I remain to be convinced its worth it - the Hatch demo I tested seemed a bit souless compared to my car or the otherwise identical Polo GTi, dunno if it was just tired from being ragged about but didn`t seem as punchy as I expected!
