New Addition?

Featured Replies

Just had this thought this afternoon - wonder if Skoda will ever introduce a version of the VW Lupo, like the Seat Arosa.

Anyone heard any goss?

There was a rumor we would see a version of the VW "fox".. little one box thing...

(oh, and technically the Lupo is a VW version of the arosa, if that makes sense...)

cool - wouldn't mind one for nipping back and forward to work (or a furby vRS!)

The Arosa is due to be deleated from the SEAT line up IIRC.

Skoda's next 'new' model is going to be the Roomster so im told. Although ive heard to different stories about this car from two different sources, one is that it will be based on the Fabia platform, the other (and the one i believe) is that it will be a Skoda version of the SEAT Altea/VW Touran. If it is it will sell like hot cakes.

2.0TDI roomster with DSG, seven seats, could be tempting!

(Sandra, we could have two more! :D)

There will be a facelift Superb next followed by the Roomster, next year I think, which will be a small MPV. I think if Skoda UK had a choice it would not be related in any way to the Altea!!

What the 'Fox' that? Oh dear...

I don't think the Fox has the same character as the Lupo. It's too watered down, althought the Pepper version looks OK.

If Skoda want to compete as a volume car maker, then they will have to address the lack of an MPV. The Roomster is a more realistic prospect than a Sharan sized behemoth, as the Zafira first demonstrated that you can get 7 folk into a smaller car. I reckon a 3 seat bench in the front a la Multipla / FRV is the best solution.

In line with every other manufacturer, they will also have to look at SUV's. Although I think this is only necessary if they sell in the US which Skoda don't at present if I'm correct? Even Rolls Royce is looking at developing an SUV for the American market.... :thumbdwn:

If they do a 7 seater with the second row reversed, I'm having one!

Been looking around at MPV's recently, and the Mercedes V class is the only one where you can reverse the middle seats (all with three point belts) so there is a lounge style area in the back, makes much better use of the space as legroom is "shared".

The SUV market is already saturated, and one of these will dilute the brand too much.

Rolls Royce making a 4x4, if this is true .

There are a lot of manufacturer's who don't agree.

Range Rover has just introduced the Range Sport. BMW the X3 and TBC the X7. Saab are reskinning some GM SUV (trailblazer?). Audi are to introduce the Q7. Nissan have 7 different SUV's lined up for production. the Infiniti brand is to be launched in the UK with it's own range of SUV's. Merc is relaunching the G Wagen and M series.

Jaguar's current failure in the US is blamed on the company's reluctance to enter the SUV market, and although this might not seem a big deal for a British luxury brand, American's buy vast quantities of cars and ensure the success of companies like Jaguar (as long as they build SUV's).

I can't remember where I read about RR 4x4, I think it was Autocar, although they do print some Rollocks from time to time.
