Why buy Octava vRS?

Featured Replies

Hi all!!!

I'm a newbie here who doesn't own a skoda YET!!! But I'm very tempted to buy an Octavia vRS (second hand, with about 20-30k miles).

Just wondered if anyone could give me some reasons to persuade me to go out and buy one right now!

Hopefully my next post will be as an owner!! :D

well with a few hundred quid ontop you can have a 200+bhp 250 lbs ft of torque that will say bye bye to cars costing twice as much.

fooking HUGE boot :)

Or, if buying second hand, buy any 1.8T fwd octy and get exacty the same after a remap.

(but then you won't get white carpets \ seats etc)

Reliable, practical, good looking, well thats enough about me. ;)

Seriously all of the above and more applies to both Octy and Fabia vRS. You can add to that reasonable running costs, loads of equipment as standard, enough room in the boot on the Octy to move a small family into, the list can go on for ages.

Also if you've got a few hundred quid to spare you can give it to Jabba/Revo and the like and get it tuned.

Finally, welcome to Briskoda.

You'll be surprised by the amount of attention they get aswell from curious colleagues and envious neighbours.

You also get a great sense of satisfaction from owning and driving and Octy vRS as they're better than a mk IV Golf GTI in nearly every respect.

So why buy an Octavia, why not?

I brought one not because it's a brilliant car to beat all cars, it's not. Give me a choice and RS4 or 6 would be in the bag. However it is for me a good car, it gives you alot of car for your money with alot of potential if your that way inclined to performance. Reliable, pretty much a given of most new cars and plenty of support options via tuners and independent servicing folk. Friends as briefly mentioned above have the Bora's and Golf's (2.8v6) neither to be honest I prefer once inside. Both are cars, both cost more for less in my mind. Sure you notice the door closes and makes a thump over a twang, or the damped grab handles, but hey life goes on.

For a little over 11k I got a vRS with 30k on it ESP, electric seats and so on, perhaps a little over priced but he little alluminium stick on tag makes it one of a hundred so I paid for that really.

Lined up against the opposition at the time there were MG's, Fords, Jags (stretching) and to be brutally honest Scooby's. Of all except the Scoobie I found the Skoda range to be best suited to me, I did not try a Leon, Golf or A3/4 because I saw no point, the Octavia gave me the same "drive" for less. Comfey enough for trips in excess of 10 hours, just. Reasonable economy for the performace in the real world, Fabia vRS even better of course. Don't let the Fabia v Octavia v Superb banter put you off, all are very potent cars on the road with little or no modification needed.

Hope that helps,

Very good point! And obviously don't look as nice or handle as well as standard, but are cheaper.... depends if you expect to go down the modifying route.

I bought mine new about 9 months ago, and have been really pleased with it.

The performance for the money if fantastic even un-Jabba'ed, and you'd have a job getting (I think) a better performing and practical (I need a large boot for the family) car for the money...

Sure there are faster and better cars, but for

put simply................. you won't find a better performance car for the money.

On my second one now (first one company car) and love it. I feel more exclusive in my octy vRS than i would in any BMW or MERC and at a fraction of the cost. Park it in the car park at work and watch everyone crawl all over it, its great ! 52 plate, 2002, 17k, under 9k !! need i say more.

(although a couple of my ill informed mates still refer to it as my 150mph skip)

Your not wrong old fruit. I've had mine chipped and it does go faster than 150.

Another great thing is the suprise on BMW drivers faces' when they try it on' date=' and you leave them standing...

Buy one, buy one now ![/quote']

BMW driver =

Me = :rofl::rofl::rofl:

has anyone mentioned the size of the boot!!!

as a day to day functional car it is absolutly brilliant.....and when you want it can shift.

ive had mine around 2 months now, we needed more space for our first born, to be honest i could have fitted a bundle load in the boot (buggies that is) we will be having more.

so far i've only found one problem though.......the missus uses it a lot more than my old car...mmmm should make much difference after the divorce is through though!!
