Featured Replies

alloys are going in for a refurb, need to drop off and pick up, will be about 60 miles on steel wheels, will the car be ok on streelies?

Absolutely no problem at all!!!

you sure? that last time I used 4 steelies at once, my car just disperst into a million particles at the traffic lights.

!CAUTION DO NOT USE!

:giggle:

just kidding, absolutely no reason why they shouldnt be provided they have good tread on them, correctly inflated and balanced.

Usual caveats apply... correct size, offset, wheel bolts, centre bore, will they clear the brakes?

Don't give him a hard time...if you don't ask, you won't know :)

Yep, assuming that (and the tyre sizes and condition) is OK, you'll be fine.

thanks mate, i have a good knowledge about cars, but never owned a higher powered car so as we all know 1.9s dont tend to come with steelies from factory so seems best to find out before i did something silly.

I run 16" VW beetle steels (5x100 6.5J) with no problems emoticon-0103-cool.gif

The 1.9TDI comes with 14" steel wheels, but obviously the vRS, being top of the Fabia range, does not.

I'm very tempted to buy a pair of steel wheels and fit winter tyres on them. BTW AutoExpress this week have done a winter tyre test.

What colour are you going to have your black alloys painted? I guess not Green or Orange, lol.

That's Cheap. :) The place near me does it for £45-50 per wheel (or did last year), so you've got a good bargain.

yep thats why am seizing the chance, quite like the standard fabia alloys but dont like em in black so makes sense just to get them done and get 4 new centre caps, total like £150

If your going to go for winter tyres don't buy a pair - you need a set of four.

Best place for luminous paint on a Fabia is on the underbody. That way, when it gets flipped over in the snow, there's a nice bright yellow or orange patch that can be spotted from the heli-chopter.

Thats mega cheap, I could go for that, is it proper recon or just paint/powdercoating?

It's £20 a wheel not £25 so even better. Includes chemical strip, shot blast, sand, possessory and lacquer.

Dont know much about the process, but do they sort scuffs/kerbage out?

I guess that will be done within the 'sand' process. Give them a call to confirm.

Great, cheers mate :)

W14RRN - have you used City Powdercoaters in the past? without meaning to hijack the thread, please could you post your feedback on them? (pm if neccessary)

I've been looking at using these guys for some refurb work, but there is quite a nasty negative feedback thread on the tyresmoke forums.
