Tyre query

Hello,

I have a fabia VrS and currently running a Kumho ecsta SPT 205/45ZR 16 87w xl on the front and Continental Sport Contact2 205/45R16 83w on the rear. Can I switch these front and rear tyres so that they wear more evenly?

Also I have read that for the traction control to function properly the front and rear tyres need to be the same. Is this the case? If so what are the best tyres to get for a fabia VrS?

regards,

Hi James

I don't think there is any problems swapping front to rear, but I would do them diagonally (ie front n/s to rear offside) etc,

The only thing different with the tyres is the weight loadings, and as 83 is ample for a VRS, and as for the traction control it would only make a difference if you

had different size wheels front and back.

Some cars are sensitive to having different tyres on the front and rear axles, so while you can change them over, be prepared for a change in the handling. It may feel OK, but then again it may feel terrible, or anywhere in-between.

Thanks. Managed to change the tyres over, but not diagonally as advised. The kumhos are unidirectional so could only do a straight swap. The handling has changed to some degree in the lower power band. Just need to find a way to remove the wheel bolts without scratching the alloys!

Try wrapping a little insulation tape round your socketemoticon-0148-yes.gif
