Colour poll conundrum

Featured Replies

This was posted in the old colour poll thread presumed lost as no response - so reposting as a new topic.

Why is Muscovado leading the way, what were your reasons for choosing it ? On paper, 'brown' would normally be way down the list. Would you still choose it?

Silver is supposedly the most popular car colour worldwide but the poll has the silver Yeti in 9th place only.

Are Yeti owners a rebellious lot who enjoy bucking the trend ?

I suspect many Yeti purchasers are private owners , so buy their choice of colour, rather than what is considered safe come resale time. I chose storm blue with gobi leather, though nearly ordered muscovado as it looks so good in the flesh so to speak.

I went for the Muscovado and Gobi leather - we saw it in the dealers showroom - it just looked so good as a combination.

Over the years I have always stuck with 'safe' colours - mainly silvers of different names with black interiors.

Without the sunroof the Gobi really lightens the interior - it may look grubby after some months but cleans so easily - jeans wearers make the worse impact.

However, I figure that black and cloth covers are just as 'dirty' and maybe not cleaned so often because it's not so obvious??

Perhaps that's it, many have seen the Muscovado in the showrooms and been smitten. Do you think you would have chosen it otherwise? I'd imagine its a very good colour to have with Gobi. The Onyx interior may not show its grubbiness but dust/lint it certainly would.

Whilst I have gone for a Candy white Yeti with black leather I really would have preferred the Gobi interior. However, Pike fishing, cross country, Trail running and ultra marathons - with the odd bit of cycling meant common sense prevailed. And black leather it was. I would have to agree with ernieb, it's more a case of the black not showing the dirt - even though it is - rather than the inability of the Gobi to be cleaned.

In short, lazy beggar.

And yes, love the Muscovado colour too, but we already have a fortwo highstyle which is metallic 'brown' you can have too much earthy colour imho.

Just thought the Candy white looked fantastic, naturally I will be spending half my life keeping it clean but at least it keeps me out of mischief.

Hi

Have got a white bmw with a red interior. Watch for those stone chips on the white paint, apparently the solid white paint is softer than the metallic equivilent and chips so easily. I had to have my bonnet re-sprayed after 6 months and 8K.

I would never buy another white car.

Michael.

It does chip easy which is the reason I have specced underbody protection - with its attendant body film coating and mud flaps. Hopefully that little lot should go some way to keeping the chips at bay. I am however a little resigned to the inevitable anyway as this is one Yeti that will go off road on on occasion.

Why not go for the clear film body wrap for the whole car?

They protect against stones and nasty people intent on key scratching...

The exotic cars have it done and costs about 500 pounds, so surely a good investment if you wish to hold onto the Yeti for many years...

I saw this one at the Canary Wharf Motor Expo and loved it too:

I think in general brown is definite no-no colour - seen any constipation brown BMW X1s? They look dreadful - but the Muscovado is a far nicer colour and really suits the Yeti. It is a bold colour without being Ford Focus ST Kermit green or orange bold, yet it is also very classy. And combined with a Gobi interior it just looks smashing.

After much soul-searching (and changes to the order) we decided to make a longish trek to see an advertised second-hand SM in Muscavado/Gobi and were both instantaly smitte by seeing this combination in the flesh. Can't wait to get my hands on it (but will have to: build week 48 if I'm lucky - so probably looking at very late December or even early January).

Oh no, my dealer now says I have NO build week against my order (placed on 18 August)!

Not seen any problems on our fleet of white vehicles. But I know BMW specifically is supposed to suffer from soft paint.

There have been reports in the motoring press.

Hopefully Skoda use a better paint than BMW. Others do.

Buy another white car, just don't buy another BMW. ;)

It's not 500 pounds for a quality job. The top link provided is over 1000 pounds plus VAT for a full wrap. :o

It's a great way to protect the car agreed, but it's expensive.

I enquired about a cheap no printing clear wrap for the Yeti and the cheapest price was 850 pounds.

A big car is around 2000 pounds. (for a good quality job)

They also say it will only last about 3 years...

Yes, that is one of my options. May as well add a sunroof at this rate!
