2010 Octavia Scout Delivery Dates

Featured Replies

Have an Octavia Scout on order ordered in June 2010 from Thompson & Potter, Burrelton, Angus, Scotland. Original delivery date was October 2010, this has now been extended to Mid December 2010. The dealers tells me they have no control over this and did not know that there would be an additional delay when the car was ordered!!

Anyone know why the delivery times on Scouts are so long at the moment??

Really looking forward to getting the car having read all the rave reviews but the delays are starting to annoy me!!

That date sounds strange to me and I'd be querying it again with your dealer. Have you included something unusual on the options front? Did you amend the spec after placing the order? I also ordered a Cappuccino Beige Scout in June, fully loaded with options, and it was built in Week 30 (last week of July) and shipped half way round the world, with delivery to me on 30th September.

I've got to say that I'm delighted with the vehicle, so you can be confident that your long wait will be worth it.

I would quiz the dealer again & if you are still not happy go direct to Skoda UK as well, it does sound odd that the delivery has gone out so far after you had a date, most changes I have read on here are only a week or so & often the delivery gets shorter.

It may be that the dealer simply quoted you the usual 12-16 weeks & hasnt checked until recently. When the car is ordered the dealer will not have a definate date for sometimes a week or 2.

I will add its definately worth the wait, a stunning car

I'd quiz the dealer again and telephone Skoda UK if you don;t get any sense.

I ordered my Scout mid July and took delivery of it last week. Admitedly the build week jumped around like a kangeroo on acid with estimated delivery going from late September, to late November, to late February before jumping forward again to late October.

However, when I picked it up the salesman showed me a sheet they had recently received from Skoda quoting 26 week delivery on Scouts. We semi seriously discussed ordering another in the knowledge that 6 month old cars are currently fetching close to new price due to the build times.

Great car though and worth the wait.

Ordered my Scout in September with a delivery date of March 2011, apparently due to demand and the compant that produce the under chassis protection going bust (according to the dealer) they couldn't even get a demonstrator model

same here - ordered a Scout with no particular extra options in September and was told not to expect delivery until March. The dealer also had a demo model with 2000 miles on sale but asked nearly £2,500 more than a new one . It is a rediculously long wait but I suppose £2.5K and all your raving reviews are worth that.

Its worth it without a doubt. we got ours in may & it already has 14.5 K on it, just a lovely car to drive.

Picked up mine yesterday. Signed up 28th August, was being bulit around that weekend so whole process took 10 weeks to get to NZ from initial deposit paid.

Apparently NZ dealers are on fixed orders so they come regardess of when they are signed up on. Problem is now that they are getting popular so once an order is all gone you go onto the next delivery etc.

Do any dealers over there do it this way or is it just based on demand and it's so high it's first in first served on what's available via Skoda UK rather than dealers having promised allocations?

Thanks to all the folks who took time out to reply to my question, I did dip into the options list quite heavily, seemed silly not to as the options like the car came vat free too!! I haven't amended the the order in any way since placing the order in June 2010. Original delivery as I said was October 2010 now its gone out to December 2010. Just hope the deal I have is not affected if delivery drags into the new year and past the VAT rise. Is there a time limit on how long you have to take delivery after the vat rise??

Also really pleased to hear those of you who have already taken delivery of your cars are so happy with them.

The deal I got was excellent - car and options vat free - 50% deposit and the remainder interest free over 2 years. I specced the car up to £26,000 GBP but with vat off will only pay £22,000 for it. I don't think theres a better deal out there for a car with the Scouts breadth of talents.

As Jeremy Clarkson said in his review "as a value for money, well built, reliable estate with 4 wheel drive, good economy and reasonable running costs I can't think of anything better", I don't usually agree with Jeremy due to his pathalogical hatred of diesels which I quite like, but he has driven a lot more cars than me so in this case his comments like yours add to my belief I have chosen wisely..

The only options I left off of any note really were, SAT NAV, Bluetooth and Towbar as I can get all aftermarket fitted much cheaper .

Badge snobs should take a look at the Scout, I specced an Audi A4 Allroad to the same level as a comparison and was quoted closer to £40k. Virtually the same car if you remove the badge!!

I'm sure the Scout will be perfect for my 120 mile round trip to work from Forfar to Aberdeen especially once the Scottish winter takes hold.

Thanks again to all who answered, I will just have to be patient in the knowledge that you have all reassured me it will be worth the wait!!

Best regards to all

Jasper

Just seems to be on personal order in the UK, my dealer has ademonstrator now but it took them a while to get one.

I have driven the A4 allroad and I have to say that it is a class over the scout both in style and drive comfort. I drove the 170bhp diesel which was excellent. It would however be very strange if the audi was not better considering that the audi cost a lot more...

I ordered mine from Ingram"s, Ayr mid May and arrived end of October, 5 full months and waiting list is getting longer. Worth the wait.

My Octavia Scout was originally quoted for delivery 1st week of October 2010 - it then went out to a provisional build date of 22nd November 2010 - its now gone out to a provisional build date 29 November 2010 and even this won't be confirmed until a week before. Since I placed my order in June 2010 the DSG gearbox has become available on the Octavia Scout.

I have spoken the dealer and asked if I can add the DSG box to my order and have been told this might delay the build date even longer.

My view is what the hell I have waited 5 months already so I have asked Thompson & Potter, Burrelton, Perthshire to modify the order. They have guarranteed I will still qualify for VAT free on the car and extras and that the deal of 50% down 50% interest free over 2 years still stands.

I wanted the DSG box from the start but it wasn't available, now it is available, even if it delays delivery into the new year it will be worth the wait. I'm hoping they can just modify the existing order and stick to the quoted build date of the 29 November 2010. The dealer is checking and will let me know!! Apparently you can't alter the spec within 5 weeks of the provisional build date quoted. This I find strange as they don't even confirm the build until one week before the provisional date, so you would assume thats how long they need to re-schedule the production profile if required. Once the build date is confirmed I would agree that changes were unreasonable, however I would have thought a state of the art modern production line could accomodate a gearbox spec change given 10 days notice??

I believe that the DSG box will improve an already excellent car and it is my personal belief that the Scout with DSG will retain more value than the manual model, as the DSG box can be used in manual and automatic mode.

Thanks again to all the folks who have answerd my questions, I'l keep you posted on how get on with adding the DSG Box and the effect of that on the delivery date.

Not if the parts are not available. JIT means low stock levels in the supply chain
