MPG DSG DIESEL 140BHP 4x4

Featured Replies

Have now just about completed 3,000 miles ,mainly based on my daily comute of roughly 90 miles a day ,and i'm getting on average 39 MPG.Wondered how this compares with other owners of same model.

My daily journey covers the full spectrum ,heavy London rush hour traffic,A roads, and roughly half the mileage on motorways. On one long high speed motorway trip ,fully loaded it did drop to 37.5.

All results based on full tank to full tank,as I find onboard computer more of a guide rather than a definitive record.

My old Octavia ,on the same jouneys ,also a DSG diesel ,used to average cira 43MPH , until I hit 50,000 miles , then it surged to over a 46 average ,although did have gearbox re programmed ,at roughly the same time due to a mild thud ,changing between 3 & 2nd.

Overall am delighted with my Yeti and am looking forward to (hopefully)a 170BHP dsg box , plus sunroof in a couple of years time, perfection !

Your engine with just 3K on the clock will still be very tight. Diesel engines seem to constantly improve in the MPG stakes, my old octavia seemed to start giving its best at 30K miles. My superb PD140 DGS now seems to be delivering just shy of 50MPG with 30K miles on the clock, and seems to be going a simillar way to my old Octy. The range on a tank when I got it 8 month ago was just over 430 miles, and now exceeds 500 miles easily between refills.

Trust me to order the least economical versionemoticon-0140-rofl.gif.

Both your figures seem to tally with my experience of my old Octavia 2.0PD DSG. Generally it would average around 43-45mpg, less around London and up to 60mpg on a long 60mph motorway jaunt.

As long as the Yeti gets fairly close, I'll be happy.

Mines averaging aboput 47mpg at the monent but only a few hundred miles in still - did hit the dizzy heights of 55mpg but seems to be ateady 47-50 driving normally with combined driving. As said I dare say the engines will loosen up when run in better.

That's amazingly good. My old PD 140 DSG in my Altea used to do 27 to 35 round town depending on weather, and never more than 44 on a run, ever, even going gently.

These new units appear to be very good.

I have run a 2.0 TDI 140 PD DSG Touran Sport for 6 years from new. I use it mainly for longer journeys and at 47k miles, consumption is consistently 48 - 50 mpg. The car has been serviced at 10k mile intervals and always by the same family run VW garage in France. I am hoping that the Yeti (140 DSG 4x4 Elegance) on order will return similar economy after running in.

With 8.5 k now recorded, my MPG has crept up to 45 MPG. My main usage is 30 mile a day city commute at off peak time. At Motoway speeds I get about 46 MPG. I'm well pleased. My SM hsa its Birthday in 2 weeks. :giggle:

Opps, I'm not DSG soz guys.......But I wish I was ;)

Being the complete anorak I keep a note of costs on a spreadsheet!

Miles/ Litres/ Galls/ MPG

528 48 10.57 49.94

493 47 10.35 47.62

516 51 11.23 45.93

480 44 9.69 49.53

544 50 11.01 49.40

444 42 9.25 47.99

514 45 9.91 51.86

475 44 9.69 49.01

392 37 8.15 48.10

434 43 9.47 45.82

299 46 10.13 29.51

260 30 6.61 39.35

301 47 10.35 29.08

Gives the following totals:

5680 574 126.43 44.93

The last 3 fills were with the caravan on a trip to Cornwall, which lowered the average by 5mpg!!

Quite pleased really!! :D

PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE FOR A MANUAL BOX!

The economy is below 40 for the first 10 miles, it needs to warm up.

On a run at 60mph, I get 48mpg

70 mph = 44 mpg

80 mph = 40 mpg

85 mph = 38 mpg

With an 900kg trailer tent, I get 36-38mpg sitting at 60mph, if I go up to 70 mph, I get 34 mpg

I have just done 6000 miles, and checking the oil last week, I needed an extra 1 litre.

Andy

I didn't realise there were so many SM diesel DSG's on the forum.

If the DSG is this economical I'll be really happy.

Mike

OOps didnt notice they were all DSG cars mines a manual lol........strike my comments from the record lol

Is your mph figure based on the computer or tank fill calculation?

Not a DSG but have to say not much change over the last 11,000 miles.

43mpg while I was running in and now I am hoofing it a bit more its still averaging 43 mpg on the MFD

Like Llanigraham I also keep a spreadsheet of fill ups which averages 44mpg

It is possible to be very economical, I went to Crewe yesterday driving on A roads at around 50-55 mph and got 52 mpg.

On the motorway if you drive at 80mph then mpg drops off to under 40 mpg, maybe that’s down to the aerodynamics.

I would expect the DSG to be a little below these figures.

Hope this helps.
