Balls - had the car for 30 hours and 50 miles, damage already

Featured Replies

Well, this is a good start to my life with the scout.

Had loads of heavy rain this afternoon, came around a bend and the road dips down to a bridge. Flooded with what must have been getting on for 8 inches of water. Stood on brakes but ploughed through at about 30.

Good news is that the engine is fine, no water ingress and all electrics seem to work fine.

However the wheel arch lining was damaged and bent forwards so that it scuffed on the front wheel (passenger side).

I've pushed the liner back and it holds itself in place but is not fastened at the bottom and back of the arch. Looks like the fabric has ripped where it is screwed onto the bodywork.

Should this concern me or will it hold itself in place without any problems. I need to get a new sump guard for the car anyway so I'll have a good check of it next weekend, however I've got about 500 miles driving to do this week...

thanks for any advice

I broke a liner on my Leon after hitting a fox. I cut off the loose bits until I got a new liner.

What happened 2 the fox ?

Sorry to hear, it´s a real pain in the neck when one cannot control certain things :'(

Oh bummer.

Just cut some additional holes into the fabic liner and use plastic tie wraps to fasten it up off the wheel so that it doesn't foul the suspension or interfere with the steering.

This temporary fix should see you through the week.

As its already ripped at the points at which it is fastened to the cars body I doubt it will be fixable. Even if it is it is likely that the next big puddle will pull it off again.

Can't see it costing too much to replace, removing the wheel should also make access much easier, a Saturday morning DIY job

Thats a bummer, commiserate with you ..

Of course I'd had my vRS for 48 hours, parked it in a nice secure car park in manchester (rather than on the street as I would usually do) and paid a tenner for the privilege of 6 hours parking - raped - I felt completely violated.. Especially when I came back to the car to find the alloy wheel centres on the 2 wheels hidden from the camera by the car itself are no longer present... Ok not a huge cost, but ffs it's a skoda badge not an old VW one and the beastie boys havent -reinvented themselves - or have they?

It's either that or some other kind Skoda owner helped themselves....

Simes.
