Leaky doors finally fixed...

Featured Replies

Morning all,

a massive thanks to all who helped out here. Moreover, the guy who posted the youtube vid was also a godsend..

I had thought i had fixed them on Saturday, but as it was to dark i did not do a water test :giggle:

Did the water test on Sunday and there was a slight trickle on the left rear door. Took it all apart and realised even though i had caked the carrier in sealant. The water was coming through between the JOIN of the carrier to the door..

I can see why people advise taking the carrier off in the first instance. Unfortunately mine was riveted on, so i made sure the seal was completely covered second time round...

I highly recommend roof/gutter sealant. Cost me £1.69 from the local DIY shop. But the peace of mind is priceless  ...

Another dry Fabia... enjoy ;) I know since mine has been dry I've liked the car a lot more! I was beginning to get considerabley annoyed!

I would also recommend roofing/gutter sealant, by its very nature, it's ok with being damp or wet!

my bro did mine last week, alot lot better

Did mine the other week. So far seems ok.

Was it this video you used?

Its amazing how loads of people dont know how to correcly remove the handle cover.

Feels good to know the cars waterproof again dunnit :D

yeh but i am still getting condensation when driving due to the rubbish weather.

If your getting condensation, turn on the AC. AC is not just for cooling, it can keep your car dry inside when its damp as it removes the moisture from the air. Simply apply a little more heat than you would normally do and jobs a goodun.

Also, depending on how long the car's been leaky for, you might need to get a de-humidifier in there, to sort the condensation completely.
