What's happened to the WRC?

Featured Replies

C.J. what was the name of the guy at the quiz who was a WRC ginsoaked scrutineer (hi Marc :D)?

Then your tales of sleeping in your car (no doghouse then?) for a week on the RAC reminded me how good it used to be when it was all over the country.

Warning motorsport can be dangerous - isn't that part of the attraction to the competitors?

 hi andy

oi! why did that remind u of me?? :(

sleeng in the car.....those were the days ;)

the wrc cars would be a lot more sideways if they binned the active diffs

havn't heard that one  would have thought it would be hard to hide nos in a rally car that gets the sort of inspection a international car gets - i would thinks thats no more than a myth ...but you never know....

I thought there was a major concern also about the amount of materials like magnesium used and their potential in a fire

regarding NOS in rollcages...

MSA blue book(2005) regulation Q 1.1.4....(rollcage) "tubes must not carry liquids"

Rumour has it that the Delta S4's had Nos in a plumbed in Fire extinguisher system.

Has anyone noticed that when the powers that be decide to make a sport safer, they ALWAYS slow it down rediculously.

I mean, compare the BTCC days of the early 90's, and look at it now...nothing more than a joke IMHO. Yep...World motorsport is doomed to become a load of cars exactly the same all limited to 100mph with drivers earning their grid positions by the luck of a draw.

Just my 2p

mmmm, on reflection have heard about that but only as a rumour , never more but I suppose it would be technically possible to get away with that one on events but when you look at the plumbing and systems used for a good nos system it seems a little far fetched -but i suppose it could be done and thinking about it - although we do take a lot of interest in fire - ex systems I must admit i have never thought to consider if it may actually be filled with NOS. Surely nobody could be that stupid

I have found some amazing things at events though - sometimes its really amazing just what some will economise on

about all the cars being the same - i know what you mean but IMHO consider F1 - certainly all cars are not equal there!...

then consider BTCC - still not equal but the differances are less than those in F1.......

then consider a one make championship, say mini 7's, miglias or mighty mini's as examples - a load of cars all fairly evenly matched and seeing them fighting for the lead into druids with possibly 6 cars all going for exactly the same exit point......

now which would be the most exiting? how many F1 races did you watch when after the first few laps its was only really down to mechanical failure to give a possibility of anyone else winning?

I stand to be corrected for the 2nd time on this thread...that was it, N.O. was alledged to be found in the extinguisher.

Weren't they caught by some eagle eyed scrutineer...marc? nah.. changing an extinguisher for no apparent reason...got a bit suspicious and wallop.

To be honest Colin, dont know..I certainly wouldn't dispute it.... :) .its all happened before I was licensed so at the time didn't get the info i get now :D ...as I said I can see it could be possible to do but just alittle foolhardy. I will ask about it at the next scroots gathering though just for interest :)

as far as eagle eyes go it quite amazing just what can be spotted with even a quick glance when something just "dosn't look right!"
