Geometry check in Hampshire/Dorset

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I want to get my vRS wheel geometry checked and if necessary adjusted as I've suffered some sawtoothing at the back and also the gearbox has been replaced which involved dropping the front suspension so I want to check that everything is correctly aligned. Can anyone recommend a good outfit in either Hampshire or near Poole in Dorset where I could get this done properly?

Cheers,

Bob.

Ross at Christchurch Tyre Co. has always done my cars (no skodas though). very happy with the results.

You could try Micheldever Tyres or Protyre whatever they are called this week.

I often go there just for wheel alignment especially if I have trouble or work done where it needs checking.

Protyre eastleigh can do a 4WA and have always done a good job for me.

Thanks - just looked at their website and they have a 30 grand geometry machine so they'll do nicely.

Yep I would 3rd Protyre / Micheldever tyres - they are part of the same group. I have used the Fareham Protyre branch and Micheldever (next to Micheldever station) on many occasions, in fact, come to think of it I can't recall the last time I used anyone else in the last 7 or so years. I've never had a probelm with uneven wear which is a testament to the quality of their work and the fact that I check my tyre pressures on a very regular basis.

Protyre or Denmead Tyres near Waterlooville

If you want a cracking job done I can only recomend Powerstation in Cheltenham http://www.powerstation.org.uk/alignment.asp Its a long way but a fun drive, I live in Winchester but always use them for the fun cars. They do a lot of race cars & specials as well as dare I say "normal" cars so understand what to do to tweak the tracking, they dont just set it to the manufacturers recomendation which is always to give an emphasis to understeer to reduce the risk of numptie induced accidents. For the daily drive I would go with Micheldever tyres at Micheldever

Thanks for the recommendations Muckipup - I found myself in the Waterlooville area yesterday so popped into Denmead Tyres and had it done. Very nice guys, and they let me hang around and watch the process and chat with them throughout. The Hunter machine they use was pretty impressive - never seen one in action before. My geometry was out, but not hugely - and interestingly the rear was out as much as the front, and of course I had them set the revised rear camber. The handling definitely feels more positive now, and I'm hoping the sawtoothing will reduce.

Chatting to the guys they say they continually see sawtoothing on ALL VAG cars, not just Octavias, and Dunlop and Bridgestone tyres seem to be most prone to it.

Cheers,

Bob.

Glad to be of service ;)

JKM use Denmead Tyres for this kind of thing which is another strong recommendation for them.
