If it costs you more then a grand then youd be better off stripping and selling the parts then you can buy another vrs. They go cheap these days.

Thanks for that but its not an option the car is too good to be broken.

Any benefit with them?

Any benefit with them?

I'd imagine they'd be stronger.

there stronger than the auq rods not by loads but it is an improvement

as said be cheaper to put another engine in

I know what your saying but I would still rather have it repaired. There does not seem to be much in it to be honest.

I would do as your doing and repair yours. If it happened to mine i would get rods uprated only as it would be cheaper in the long run if you ever want to go above 350bhp.

Hope you get it sorted and it doesn't cost to much.

It will probably be the price of an engine + by the time I get it done. Still trying to source parts but I think I will go for the new head at least I will know its perfect.

Well a quick update so far I have sourced a set of Mahle Piston rings from http://redmansenginecentre.co.uk/ for £89.50 and a head bolt tool from ebay for £12.95. I am in the middle of trying to purchase a set of BAM pistons and roads and a BAM head.

The garage is obtaining the ancillary parts from Skoda.

are they going to hone the block before fitment???????

That has been done today. The block was stripped etc this morning ready for the new pistons.

Ollie

If it were mine, I'd get the block crack tested befor I went any further with this.

I'm sorry to say but from my experience, engines that have been "cooked" like this are never the same again and prob more trouble than they are worth.

Bill.

Hi Bill appreciate what your saying. The block has been checked and is fine, If there were any issues I would have just bought a new engine in the first place.

Nice, mind me asking what the damage was?

No worries..........

£400 for the complete head with cam cover, exhaust manifold and inlet manifold gasket.

£200 for the BAM Pistons and rods.

These parts seem very hard to find mind you. Appear to be quite sort after. Looking forward to seeing how it performs.

Great price mate, especially for BAM stuff.. what you want if you want to go high power in future too

they are stronger but not strong enough if he want to go k04 hybrid or bt

will just make it super safe on a k03s

as for performance it will be exactly the same as before theres no power increase for using the above

well glad its nearly there

BAM pistons will have slightly lower compression ratio - in practice this should have little effect, but may feasibly make a marginal reduction in performance, but likely not noticeable. However with a remap it should allow a slightly more aggressive ignition advance curve which could then pick up some benefit :)

you wont be disappointed

running new rings you will have to give it a good few miles running in with limited boost

Don't worry it will be having a fair few easy miles, I don't drive it hard anyway but it will be extra careful. I want to make sure its all running sweet before I start doing anything else. Its certainly been an educating experience!

is the head being ported and polished....if not you should whilst its off
