My 1st Problem....

Featured Replies

Ok, so i pulled the car out of the garage this morning, and it quickly fogged-up on the outside.

Ok, no issues, put on heated front and rear screens and the wing mirrors.

All began to clear, apart from the windscreen, but hang on, the passenger side is clear! - i got out, took some photos' on my phone and felt the windscreen - passenger side lovely and warm, drivers side, stone cold - does the windscreen have 2 feeds? - the only bit that began to clear on the drivers side was where the blower was hitting the screen.

Any ideas?!

Thanks,

Al.

It's a 2010 Elegance Estate by the way.... built April 2010

Looks like you have a faulty screen. i am curious how long it takes to obtain one!!

Good luck.

On Fords, the screen heater is split into separate left and right halfs each with its own fuse. Maybe worth checking fuses first.

That would be a relief, but then you have to ascertain why the fuse has blown I suppose.

Thanks guys,

Looking through the manual / hand book, it states in Version 2 of the engine compartment fuse box, F28 is labeled as "windscreen heater" - which is 50amp so way big enough... but i can only see one...

I'll get out in the garage soon (once i finish work!) and whip the cover off - I hope it is just a fuse - but it didnt fill me with confidence, as it's a perfect half!

A common problem on the Mondeo too.

More often than not it involved a new screen.

On the Escort Cosworth it was often caused by the elements at the extreme edges being damaged when the screen was cleaned, it only took a fine piece of grit on the cloth. Mine used to have a fine layer of much about 1/4 inch round the edge of the screen where I never cleaned it.

I'm going in with it this morning, for dealer to have a look at - will let you know the outcome.

I believe that. I just wish they'd see another one - I'm sick of waiting for mine!
