Drivers window switches not working properly

Featured Replies

Small problem with the buttons on the drivers door.

The rear two windows work fine from the drivers door, however the passenger window intermittantly works and the driver's side does not work at all.

The passenger window works fine from the passenger door swith. Also the drivers window winds up and down when operated by the remote fob.

I guess there's some problem with the swith mechanism - does anyone know what generally goes wrong with these and what part number I'll need to fix it?

cheers

Some temporary glitches with the electric windows can be cured by switching on ignition and pressing the electric window button as if to put the window up (hold it for several seconds), you sometimes hear a click. I believe this resets the controller.

If that doesn't do it then your probably right about the switch, your dealers parts desk should be able to help.

Doubt if two switches would fail at the same whilst two continue to work.

.

I would check for water ingress at the main connector in the driver side door. You may find water and/or corroded pins in the connector

Anyone know how to remove the driver door card/panen?

I have a faulty window switch.

thanks

I have same issue. What was the fix please

You can pick up a replacement set of switches from ebay for about a tenner.

Just one connection once you've prized the bugger out.

Easy peasy ! 🙂

Thanks. It happened last night. I sat with front drivers window open and rain got in. Now front two windows don't work using drivers control switches but work fine if I use my fob or the passenger door switch. And back ones work fine with main drivers control buttons .... just not front. Will see if they dry out and work again or buy switches like you've suggested. Thanks

It is one of those switches that relies on a coating on the plastic or rubber. Once they start being intermittent they fail soon after. Replace.

Cheers. It is intermittent so gonna replace it

Mine was the same on my Octavia as well as my sons Fabia. I reckon water gets into them if the window is left down when raining. I bought cheap aftermarket ones off Amazon and so far so good. Check the wiring as it comes through the door pillar as well for breakage. On the Fabia (not sure on Octavia) the window controller drivers side also controls the passenger side.

I've had to purchse two sets off ebay so far.

The first set operated all windows correctly (until it failed after about a year) but they would only open without finesse.

i.e. operating any switch would open the window either fully or until you gave it a short jab in the opposite direction to stop the operation.

The second set I purchased (same price) operates with finesse.

i.e. If I push the switch with a light pressure the window will only operate until I let go. Much easier to just crack the window open a tab.

A firm press will open the window fully.

Both look identical but I guess it's pot luck which one you get unless of course you get an official Skoda one (if you could souce one, that is).
