Clearly those people with diesel engines like to rattle on about torque because the engines don't produce so much power (or bhp).

Torque is 'a rotational force'. So what is power in relation to torque?

I know Colin says he prefers the torque provided by the APR chip but says that the Jabba chip gives more of a punch when the turbo spins.

What are the general opinions out there? I'm not Scuddied yet, but no doubt will be in the future. My current wagon pushes approx 270lb/ft torque and 135bhp after a Brodie-Britain Racing overhaul on a PSA 2.1td block. (with me?)

PS. Top site Colin - now I know why there's bags under your eyes!

Power....

But without that torque to push me up the hills of this land then

Anybody else have views on this?

Torque from preference

But still partial to a substantial number of ponies :D

I know we all marvel at power and torque figures but what does it all mean in the real World?

I use the generalisations (as I don't really know) that:

torque is for acceleration

power for top speed

which would kind of makes sense if you think I terms of a diesel engine; good (initial) acceleration (and towing) not so great top speed.

Does anyone have a better description?

Oh...I prefer torque but having a bit of power to play with isn't such a bad thing.

Cheers.

Adrian.
