new member couple of queries

Featured Replies

hello,

Just bought a 2002 fabia estate comfort tdi. It has a few problems most of which ican resolve with the help from this site ie: leaky doors, intermitent temp gauge, no rear washer. I still have a couple of queries though.

1. neither keyfob will open the door despite new battery. Do I need to re-code them? if so how do i do this.

2. If the temp internitent sender is not replaced will it do any harm? as long as the coolent levels remain within parameters all should be ok.

3. the boot and petrol cap buttons to the right of the drivers side door dont do anything. Is this a cable issue?

4. how easy is it to fir roof rails or does anyone have a roof bar recomendation.

thanks

You will need both keys, put one in the ignition, turn it so all the ignition lights are on, get out, close the door!! use the second key to lock the doors, once locked push either the lock or unlock button, wait one/two secs and then push the same button again, you should hear an alarm 'chirp', job done, repeat for other key

2. If the temp internitent sender is not replaced will it do any harm? as long as the coolent levels remain within parameters all should be ok.

It should be ok in theory, but it's there to do a job, get it replaced so you dont need to keep checking levels!!

3. the boot and petrol cap buttons to the right of the drivers side door dont do anything. Is this a cable issue?

Tbh i dont know, my boot lock is a bit sticky and usually requires a few touches, i played about with my boot handle by the seat today, and after about ten pulls the boot light on the dash indicated it opened, but when i got out it was still closed, although it did sound like it opened

Do all estates not come with built on rails?? i thought all that was need for a rack was bars like these... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Skoda-Fabia-Estate-Roof-Rails-Aero-Bars-Rack-00-/350403710387?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5195b04db3 i could be wrong though!!

The petrol cap could be a cabling issue. Remove the trim inside the boot on the side of the petrol cap, and see if anything has become disjointed. I've read a few times on here that this sometimes happens. It just needs to be reconnected. I'll try to find a link.

The 05/04 catalogue notes roof rails standard only on the Elegance trim level - £150 extra on others

Got the roof bars on mine as standard but was one of the last to be manufactured Aug 07. I didn't specify them as an option and I think Ambiente and Elegance all had them as standard in the last couple of years of production. I am sure I've read of at least one case a couple of years ago on here where they were retro - fitted but from what I remember, it wasn't particulary cheap and a bit fiddly. As it happens, I think the car does look a bit better with the bars fitted but have never actually used mine yet, even though I got some cheapo cross - bars from Lidl for them. However, I'm sure they'll come in useful one day.

No - for the post facelift cars PDF brochures through 2006 (Feb and Oct), and earlier, show roof rails as standard on the Bohemia and Elegance models only - optional on Ambiente trim.

Did you try both keys, my car only programmed one key, I know this method works cause I did mine last week!!

Just had to replace transmitter in my 2004 key,and as yours is older that might be the problem

Hi,

I did try both keys yes.

How do I replace the transmitter in the key?

Wouldn't believe everything written in the brochure - I found that out when I was speccing mine up - also I'm in Ireland not UK - could be that's why all later Ambient i see have bars as well?
