VRS/TSi - might be worth a check of your oil level.

Featured Replies

If you potter around chasing MPG's only - not long. If you give it a boot (the only reason to buy this car really i.e. have the economy but still be able to trash it and have fun) the cat will heat up and burn the oil off no problems. Remeber it has double injection phase when starting from cold and literary squirts fuel in to heat the cat up as soon as possible. Still high loads (not necesserily high speeds) are essential quite often. I try to do it daily :D

  • Well, when I was buying this car another option was monte 1.6 oil chugger. I went for vRS as I always had a sensible, low cost cars and I finaly wanted something more smile inducing than looking at yo

  • Really??

  • LOL, I just checked my old vRS's oil, this never used any oil during daily or weekly use by me, and it was just recently serviced and given an Oil and Filter Change by me before i passed it on.. O

boot it regularly, right..... I like that idea

Why else buy this car?

bought it for a bit of everything speed, economy, comfort

all it means now is that I now get to boot it more often

Same here, I keep saying it is very good at everything just not excellent at anything, except DSG box and the amount of space it offers :)

Lukee,

Did you get your Engine replaced then, and was it just a short engine not a complete new one?

& was it the Head Gasket on a vRS. or was that what they said it was?

Is all well now with your car?

Confused.com,

There is no 'Recall' by Skoda regarding High Oil usage or any notification to Twincharger Owners.

If there was to be a recall then best that someone can let others know.

Skoda would be the people to do that.

There is a Breather Modification that plenty here have had done,

(never offered, but needs complaining about oil usage and consumption test carrying out usually before getting.)

then many have had the Replacement engine after this resolved nothing.

When i took it into its first oil consumption test they didn't even know there was a recall until they checked the system. In the end it went in for a new engine which was meant to be just a new block but got a new head as well. As for the gasket it takes no brainer to know its gone when there's oil all round the gasket the other side of the filler cap. I had the breather mod done which improved things for a while but where my car has been run dry from excessive oil consumption the bores were scored and bottom end bearings shot to bits. As for the car now it appears to have worked as my fuel consumption alone has dramatically improved. As for oil consumption i will keep you all posted as the new engine has only done 200 miles

Lukee,

What age of vRS is it and what mileage has it covred, and did you get it new?

I still do not know about the Recall you keep speaking about, you have posted mentioning a 'Recall' several times now.

There is no 'Re-call'.

Do you know what 'their system said.

I know about Cylinder Head Gaskets going and what happens normally.

Not heard of Cylinder Head Gasket Failure on other Twinchargers tho.

& Yours is the first i have ever heard of with visible oil to be seen anywhere outside the engine.

I had an early vRS registered July 2010 and it had an engine re-build at 4000 miles and has done 14,000 miles since without any oil usage apart from one short period, of a few days use without ever reaching normal running temperature, it used 0.5 of a litre.

george

EDIT,

I have read your other post and know now it had done 24,060 miles and was in for its second

consumption test.

When was the car first registered?
