phones and car holders

Featured Replies

I do like my phone to have a proper clip-in cradle in the car, not one of these universal foam things. This means that the charger is connected as soon as you clip it in.

Am I imagining it or do phones these days not have proper cradles? I'm not thinking of replacing my phone just yet, but what would be the options for phones and cradles in the future? (Without spending £100s!!)

cheers,

Martin

Try looking at Brodit.

ok, so from that "active holder" is the term I'm looking for!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Used Brodit for my last N95, E71 and iPhone, top kit.

Another vote for Brodit mounts here, had 6 or 7 of them now for various phones and sat navs over the last few years

But from what I've seen of modern phones, whilst my 6110 Navigator has holes in the side to clip into, and a charging contact on top, most phones I've seen recently just have the usual charging socket and nothing to clip into?

I use a griffin window seat for my iPhone, excellent bit of kit.

anyone got a pic of a brodit kit installed? From the website they look fugly?

I'm on my second Brodit mount, and they're pretty good. Each one is individually designed for the phone, so it will hold it securely.

For charging you need an 'active' version.

They're not exactly beautiful, but they're pretty well made and don't look out of place in the car.

I'm happy with the CR48 cradle that the phone sits in. What would be nice is a bracket to attach the CR48 to. I'm currently using the HH-12 (?) nokia windscreen mount which is "ok".

This is my old Nokia phone holder attached to a brodit proclip in an Octavia2.

Here's my old iphone in a brodit holder... Using the same holder with a different pass through cable for my Desire, only difference is I've hidden the cabling behind the dash now rather than trailing the cable down to the 12v socket in the centre console

My N98 one was nice, but broke very easily. My iPhone one is solid as a rock, but covered in flock and attracts dust like a madman. Plus it kinda stands out on the dash as it's.. well, covered in flock rather than being just plastic like the N98 one was.

Also, I find they look nice from your position, but as a passenger they look a little out of place. Just my opinion though.
