Boot trim

Featured Replies

Can anyone help me please? I pulled the boot trim off the tailgate and I can't get it back on again  Unfortunately one of the numberplate bulbs fell into the trim so it all had to come off. On trying to put the black lower trim back on, I can only get the one side back in. Do I have to remove all of the white trim surrounding the window to get the black trim (in front of the wiper motor and locking mechanism) back on? Its just the one corner at the top of the black trim near the window I cannot get right! :(

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Cant help with the estate trim but I had to resort to getting in the boot on my hatch and fitting it that way. Is it the trim on the boot lid or the trim inside? Pic might help

Thanks Ollie. Yes its on the inside of the boot - ie when you open the boot around the inside of the boot door and around the outside of the window. We have successfully had my dads Mk2 Octavia hatch boot trim off a couple of times and although difficult, its not as bad as this!

From memory you want to hook the top of the trim on then apply brute force and ignorance to the rest to fasten it back on. You shouldn't need to touch the white trim round the window.

I think that sounds about right. I had to pull mine off after my father kindly poked one of my number plate bulbs through :dull:, even though seconds before hand I had told him they were prone to vanishing. My plastic work does not look quite right, and that is even after an approved workshop have resprayed my tailgate twice, and I assume removed and refitted the plastic work.

Don't forget to thread the fabric grab handle though the trim before clipping it back in place. Someone (ie. me) forgot the first time around
