3 weeks of ownership and it's in the garage already!

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Bought my vRS a few weeks ago and there has been a knocking when i steer, accelerate etc. So needless to say the car went straight back to the dealer, after they checked it they stated the following needs replaced:

Both anti roll bar links

Both console bushes

Both suspension bushes

Should this have all been checked before they sold me the car? The mechanic took great pleasure in telling me it would cost £300.00.... Then he looked ****ed off when i told him it was under warranty

Should have been checked before sale, yes, but then on the otherhand if you hadn't noticed the knocking for a few weeks longer then they could have claimed wear and tear and you would have had to fork up. Bushes do tend wear quickly on a furby.

This might be crazy but... My theory is that the bushes wear quicker due to the stiffer vRS suspension and the use of standard bushes. Am i right in anyway? I won't be surprised in the slightest if i'm wrong though :giggle:

Not limited to the vRS, the bushes are just crap :p

They redesigned the bushes at some point..... Must have been after 2006 cos mine has the original design fitted. The wife's vRS had them replaced last year and the service guy showed me the original style bushes and then the new redesigned ones. Time will tell if the newer design are any better.

Cheers

Dave.
