Octavia RS, bluetooth and controls on steering wheel

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm pretty sure you will be much more of help then my (local) car dealer is. I'm slowly starting to think about getting new Octavia (current one is closing to "too many km on tacho") so I started to think about RS instead of Elegance 1.8TSI (price difference is so minimal that... ) :) So there are few things bugging me, and today, when I had my current Octavia II on service, I went to ask them about this. Unfortunately they didn't sell not even one RS yet, so they have no idea about this. Yeah, I should go somewhere else, but at the moment I'm not that far with my decision yet, that it would be worth driving around :)

Anyway... at the moment I have bluetooth phone package in current Octavia, and I can't imagine living without it anymore... and without phone controls on steering wheel. Problem with RS. that current list of additional equipment (at least here in Slovenia) has things written a bit confusing. It looks like for me, that steering wheel controls for phone are available only if you have DSG, and not for non-DSG version. Of course I know things can be different in different countries, but still. How is this in UK (or wherever possible RS owner is)?

Thanks for help in advance,

primoz

In the UK, the multi function steering wheel can't be specified on the manual vRS and comes as standard on the DSG version. Bluetoth is only an option on the DSG becasue of the MFSW.

I can't help you with the Slovenia options but it sounds similar to the UK.

I believe in Ireland you can specify the Bluetooth on the manual car even though you don't have the MFSW as the Bolero can control the bluetooth...

Welcome to the madness that is the Skoda marketing department and options list :(

You should be able to order it without DSG. I did order it with my Scout and GSM Premium and Skoda Slovenia is under Porsche Austria same as the one here. I will PM you all the options on Excel sheet and you can go with that to your dealer.

Possibly not, in the UK the MFSW is available on all models (manual and DSG) apart from the vRS (which only gets the MFSW if you have DSG)... Also, the bluetooth in the UK is only available in conjunction with the MFSW...

Hence, on a manual vRS it is not possible to order the bluetooth as a factory fit option. It can be easily retro fitted though...

Worth giving a try. On my list of options i received my GSM BT cost 358 euro, while on RS it is listed as only 255 euro regardless of RS gearbox. I'll confirm it again as i asked my friend to call Porsche Austria who manages VW/Skoda for C/Europe.

Yes, its ridiculous.

I didn't want DSG but I did want a MFSW and bluetooth. Compromise - bought the manual and added FISCON bluetooth - works just like OEM.

Still would like a MFSW though..

6.5 years later i found this thread after buying an Australian-spec 2011 Octavia VRS.

I was explaining the problem with being unable to pair my phone to a mate, when his son pointed to a button on the underside of the washer controls labeled "OK".

Turns out that this and the rocker on the end do the job just fine.
