Possibility of locking key in boot

Featured Replies

I am a new member, so my apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere.

I have an 09 Roomster 2, bought last week. When I unlock the boot only, with the remote and then close it, it automatically relocks :( luckily I have not left the key inside yet.

Is this a fault on mine or is it a "design feature".

Moderator, Sorry, I put this into the wrong forum, please move to Roomster General or the most appropiate.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If i am thinking correctly my Mark 1 Octavia VRS does the same as this so possibly it is working as it should

Same on my Fabia vRS - and yes you can lock the keys in the car, as RAC and Egertons can testify on my behalf! :giggle:

(Funny that it never happens when I'm at home and can just go and get the spare key! :o )

Superb Estate is the same...

Think they all are

I done it many times with various makes of car.

If you unlock using the general unlocking button and open the boot then (on the Yeti) it disables the relocking function and you won't lock your keys in the boot. - Simples!

All VAG cars to that so most people tell SWMBO to never EVER use the boot unlock key on the fob. EVER. Fullstop. Tell them (or yourself if you are absent minded) it will blow all the wheels off if they/you ever press it. Paint a big red X over it as well. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

I thinks this is the same for all Skodas. My Octavia did this as well.

If you frequently lock the keys in boot the sell car and buy a 5 series with keyless entry. It won't let you lock the key in the boot I discovered. Other cars keyless entry systems might work the same, but I have no experience of them.

Ps. It is cheaper to do as Terfyn suggests. ;-)
