MPH in trip computer display - what is it supposed to do

Featured Replies

Hi, apologies if this is stupid , tried reading the manual and searching here, but can't find anything.

Have recently got an 09 FL Octavia Estate 2.0 Elegance. On the trip computer, if I cycle through there is a display between average MPH and miles done (I think) which always displays ----MPH. Is this meant to show something?

Thanks

Speed warning-you can set an alarm to warn you if you exceed, say 180MPH? :rofl: Use the stalk buttons to adjust the desired speed for a warning. Or just don't bother....

Presumes computer is in Mode 1:-

Readouts I can remember are Time, Available Range, Trip MPG, Trip MPH, Ambiant Temperature, and Instantaneous MPG. If you check the IMPG readout when the car's on the over-run, it will show ---.-MPG, because you're moving, but the fuel cutoff means that no fuel is being injected.

It's in Mode 1 and 2, the speed warning sounds sensible, but according to the manual it should say 'Speed Warning at ----mph' where as the bit I'm not sure about just says ---mph and I think has a steering wheel next to it.

Correct. That means a reminder speed has not be set as yet. Matter of following the manual ;

IIRC prod button then scroll up or down using the rocker switch. Mine is set at 85mphemoticon-0144-nod.gif

Hi, what you think is a steering wheel sounds like the symbol of a circle with a line running diagonally going through it. This is the symbol for average. In mode 1 it is the average speed for the last journey and will automatically reset if the ignition iss off for more than 2 hours. In mode 2 it is a running average over the life of the car or from when it was last set. I'm not surprised if mode 1 shows the three dashes but in mode 2 you should see a speed reading, the average for however many miles after the computer was last reset.

There is often a really useful resource included with the car - a handbook. Mine has all these details in it.

Hi,

Can you please explain how to access mode 1 or 2; my manual does not explain this?

Tony

For the octavia without steering controls, press and hold the button on the bottom of the wiper stalk.
