4 wheel drive fabia

Featured Replies

Is it possible to make a 4 wheel drive fabia?

I suppose it wouldn't be cost effective but just as an idea.

Would be good if Skoda made one to match the a3/ s3

There's a nippy one built by a tuning place in CZ, but it would be a technical nightmare. Involving donor parts from Haldex equipped engine, and then rear diff/beam made to fit the fabia. I would love to do it on the mongrel, but its not going to happen!

The A3 shares the floorpan with the Octavia so its the wrong platform.

Yes it is possible, look at the WRC cars, but unless your an engineer yourself its going to cost a lot in time and labour.

That's what I was thinking. Oh well, best stick with the front wheel drive for the time being lol

It would be a lot cheaper & easier to buy an S3 (or equivalent) :p

Milotec built a car using Audi TT components - search for Milotec Dragon.

@Tech1e - The WRC cars were never Fabia's, they were the old Octavia WRC cars rebodied as Fabias which was part of the reason the vRS has the longer bumpers. They just couldn't make the Fabia WRC car any shorter and so the basis car (Fabia) had to be lengthened effectively.

I thought the Fabia vRS bumpers were larger in order to get the length over the WRC minimum regulation 4000mm?

Yeah same as the Pug 206 GT

The cars arent technically long enough to start with so they made the production vehicle long enough so it qualified.

It's more than just that as otherwise the roadgoing vRS would be 4000mm long.

There was an article in AutoSport about it at the time. PSA did something very similar when they went from Xsara to C4. The basic rally car underneath is the same, it's just the model they wish to promote is different. When the Mk 1 Octavia production finished Skoda needed something they could rally that was still a production car and the new Octavia II wasn't suitable, so they went for the Fabia.

Sorry - I'm confused here as to what you're trying to say - the road-going Fabia vRS is over 4000mm - it's officially 4002mm according to Skoda
