Power steering light on Fabia 1.4 16V

Featured Replies

I have a problem with the power steering indicated by the warning light coming on after the car has been running for a while. However the location of the container for the hydraulic fluid isn' t shown in the handbook and bizarrely I can't find it although it's probably obvious. Could someone please let me know where it is and is it easy to top up? I guess if topping up doesn't work then it is

a job for the garage possibly being an electrical problem. I would be grateful for advice on this.

Power steering tank is under the battery tray...lamp on the dashboard could be a few things, angle sensor, pump, low battery best to get a garage for a look, whereabouts are you?

it will more than likely be the angle sensor, mines is away just now too...

Angle sensor around £100, pump (hoping it's not) £300 parts only!!

It also says in the manual that the light does not come on for low fluid level

The pump doesnt come on for a low level, but it does come on if the pump overheats which is does it the oil level gets low.

Thanks for help. So far I have checked the oil with some difficulty as the cap is not under the battery but close by although stiff to remove, needs grips. The oil needed topping up but unfortunately the light still comes on after the engine warms up. So now I need diagnostic help and will take it to a VW outlet to find out the bad news. Will post again with the outcome.

Where abouts are you?

Thank you for your help. The problem was identified as a faulty angle sensor and was replaced at a cost of £325 including VAT at an approved garage in Croydon.

Hi i just find out that mi oil level is low. Went to Skoda dealer in Derby(Spondon) for oil to top up but they give me green one and i have red in mi car. Where can i get this oil? I tryied few parts shops and garages but they have only green.

Warning light goes on a car park after i turn wheels all the way right or left and goes off once i start the car again.

First i want to try to top up oil and if this will not help then possible steering sensor or something else.

But i need this red oil.

I'd hope you don't need red steering fluid as that would mean that someone has used their imagination and loaded in some "normal" steering fluid - this system wants the green stuff, but maybe your steering rack is knackered so any fluid is better than none although it will find its way out like what has happened already.

Are you sure that its not just a knackered battery that is causing the light to come on after you first start the car up from cold.

No light goes on only when i turn wheels all the way round right or left, no at the start. I have checked steering but i cant see any leaks.

Comma do a compatable fluid for the power steering.
