Getting a bit sick now................

Featured Replies

I seem to be throwing money at my car at late, now I`ve got new problem..........its gone into limp mode, again.

DPF light was on (as it does from time to time) buts its had the software "fix" Also the glowplug (?) light is flashing.

The local Skoda garage cant get it looked at until the 1st December and the warenty ran out last week :wonder:

Any ideas what it could be and how much to fix?

No expert on the Mk2, but a friend of mine has one and he had problems with an exhaust temperature sensor which I think caused the DPF light to come on.

The glowplug light (little coil) flashing because the engine management has seen a problem, first thing to do is check the brake lights are working as the light flashing was on my Fabia an indication that the brake light switch had failed, a relatively simple repair.

Thanks for the replys - just checked the brake lights - all working.

Now got a message on the display saying "Engine fault - Workshop"

I think that you need to find someone near to you with VAGcom and scan for faults.

If something goes wrong with the DPF or engine so it cant regen you will get the DPF light, then the coil light, then the engine management light as its gets onto the next stage.

Probably just a pressure sensor.

Is your local dealer Derek Slack? They had a good reputation when I lived down there. I'm amazed they can't look at it before December 1st.

would imagine its the exaust pressure sensor, mine went and it went straight to limp mode as it thinks the dpf is fully blocked, mine was under warranty though, but i would imagine you would have a good case for some sort of goodwill from skoda if its only just out of warranty?

is there no other dealer in the area, or what about ringing skoda assist? thats what i did when mine went at least then you will get a hire car for a day or 2

good luck with it

Yes it is slacks and I was amazed too. Going to another garage on Monday morning to get to get the faults read.

Hope you get it sorted out. I used to work in Guisborough - it was a fantastic area for mountain biking!

Not sure if my comments will help or fill you with dread!

My vRS tdi was 20 months old. Compny car and covered 89k.

I have had a DPF problem for 4 months. Light coming on followed by Glowplug light then Engine light then into limp mode. Three times I have had to be recovered as RAC could not get the DPF figure down enough to reset the fault codes and get me going again. Never happens close to home. Once in Aberdeen, once in Cambride and the last in Ipswich!

Each time the dealer apparently fitted new exhaust sensors.

last occassion was 4 days in the dealer. Apparently had a complete new DPF system, for which they had to get authorisation from Skoda. Warranty covered it but saw the invoice which had £1500 as the total!!!

The problem was finally sorted.

Hope you have better luck!
