Finaly Arrived!

Featured Replies

Orderd on 5th June and built in week 40, I finally have my car.

Nearly had kittens on the way home, slowed down because a pheasant was flying across the road and the stupi thing decided to turn and straight in to the windscreen. Pulled over straight away to make sure no damage and the truck drive behind stopped to pick up the road kill. Unfortunatly it had gone under his rear wheels, he ws gutted because he thought he'd got Christmas dinner sorted!

If this continues, perhaps my car will end up being named Cgristine after the car in the Stephen King novel B)

The pictures below show the new car being introduced to a car that is exatly 37 years old this month as all the Ford Capri RS3100's were built in November 1973, only 250 were built. The RS3100 has the same power as the Superb, but from a 3100cc, Essex V6 and does 0 - 60 in about 7 seconds with a top speed of 124mph, when it was tuned a few years ago, it was showing 121mph on a calibrated Dynomometer. The Capri is pretty much as it left the factory, the only restoration is under the bonnet when the battery exploded in 2007 on the way to the Classic Car Show at the NEC and the mileage shown in the pictures below is fully docuemnted and the tax disc is the original one from when the car was first registered in March 1974, these cars took a while to seel due to the fuel crisis at the time and its 25mpg economy. Despite that, it was at the time of manufacture the fasted Ford produced by Ford Europe with the lowest drag factor.

The engine bay of all my cars stay as clean as the outside so that if there are any leaks I can see straight away where they are coming from,so the Superbs engine will probably stay just as clean!

The underside of the RS3100 is also kept clean and I do my best to keep the daily runnders just as clean.

Light was fading to get good pictures of the Superb interior, so here are some of the RS3100

Will probably be playing with my new toy over the weekend so be warned there will be more pictures coming :giggle:

Oh yes I like both of those, very nice indeed.

Reminds me how I wanted a 2.8 injection Capri very badly back in 1985 when the 5speed variant had not long been out. I couldn't find one that hadn't been thrashed, abused or had sensible mileage though. I must have looked at about 30.

Your rs 3100 is better than money in the bank especially looked after the way that one is (as I'm sure you know)

Looking forward to June next year when my rwd performance car arrives (Caterham R400)

Mark.

Wicked cars

Thanks Guys

....and yes the RS3100 is better than money in the bank, I have it valued every year and the current value has gone up 75% in six years :o

Not as much as two which are up for sale at the monet, one at £32K and another at about £38K

Just need a trailer to put the old girl on :)

Brilliant looking Capri RS3100. I have only seen one example up here and it is in a collection of cars owned by a local millionaire and it has pride of place among several Ferrari's!!

Nice Superb also bye the way!!

No, It was white. I remember that quite clearly, even though it was probably 15 years plus ago. The person also owned a Tickford capri apparently owned by Cliff Richards!! (not my cup of tea........

My Boss used to have a Tickford Capri in the 80's along with a Rover SDI V8 awsome cars

Don't worry, I had em all from a MK1 1600GT to a 2.8i and alot of 3.0 V6's, the bloody thing's used to get me in deep stuff, especially the 2.8i, I had the airflow meter pinched off it one night, I heard the window go through but failed to look out the window as it was normal noise where I lived, nearly lost my licence in it, and spent a lot of wonga having the thing welded up for MOT's, the other's that I had that were also blue were also jinxed, I came out and found a citroen smashed into the back of one by a drunk, another one died when a nump joined the outside lane infront of me on a dual carraigeway from a side road, what else? oh yeah, snapped a prop in a 3.0 auto, and a rear pinion in another, and my V6 experience all began with a swap on a mint Escort I'd bought for £150 from the dealer I worked for, some Rostyles,Mexico back panel and pre 73 black and silver plates and she looked the nutz, swapped for a 3.0 V6 Ghia MK2, and that's when Sweeney mode really took hold, sadly the cars couldn't handle the extra askings, it was fun at the time, but in hindsight foolish, the joys of being 19 and a showoff I suppose.

GK, I know the guy you mean, called Wesley, the most recent RS3100 he had was Olympic Blue, he sold it last year for a lot less than the £20K he wanted.
