HELP! Water in the footwell

Featured Replies

HELP please,

Live in France and we bought a Fabia II for my wife - Great [car and wife]

A leak has developed into the r/h footwell from behind the dash.

Garage charges over here are mortgage level so would like to fix myself if possibe.

1. How does one access the back of the dashboard - it looks like Fort Knox (Where as no problem on my 2003 Occy)

2. Any idea of what is the cause and solutions to fixing the same?

3. How does the engine palstic cover come off please? Want to see where any water pipes enter from the engine bay. [climatic aircon on this car]

Would welcome a prompt reply as getting earache from SWMBO

Thanks in advance

Hiya,

Engine covers pretty easy to get off, pull up the part near the front of the car, is 2 rubber bungs its pressed into then just pull it off towards you.

I know the mk1 fabias had an issue with water ingress if the plenum drain chambers were blocked causing water to seep in through the pollen filter. The pollen filters normally in the passenger side foot well (at least it was on the mk1). No idea if this may still be present in the MK2. Only normally happens if its often parked under a tree etc. where things slip in to the chamber under the wipers

Sorry I can't be more help!

Known issues with the front screen bonding causing water leaks like you describe.
