Central Locking question

Featured Replies

Hi,

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but I cannot find the complete answer to my issue.

I have just purchased 2007 Octava vRS. The central locking is freaking me out! I suspect it has what people are referring to anti-hijack mode. When I drive the car the doors auto lock after approx 15 Km/h. When I stop and switch the engine off I have to pull the door handle twice, once to unlock and then again to open. None of the other doors will open unless the same thing is done to their door handle, or, I push the unlock switch near the handbrake or push the unlock button on the key fob.

I don't really mind this feature as we have small children and it's good to know that no one can open the door from the outside.

However, the other day I pushed the unlock button on the inside. I'm not sure when I did this, but from that point on the central locking acted normally. That is, when I stopped the car, I only needed to pull the door handle once and all the other doors were able to be opened from the outside.

Then my wife drove the car and the anti-hijack system enabled again.

I thought at first that it may have been programmed depending on which key fob was being used, but this is not the case.

We do not have the version where you can set-up the car's settings via the MFD (or Maxidot as I think it is referred to).

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Philip.

That sounds like normal behaviour.

I've used maxidot to set the autolock, but pressing the unlock button on the centre console does just that, it unlocks the car so you only need to pull the handle once to open the door.

When I next turn the car on and drive off, the doors autolock...

Then my wife drove the car and the anti-hijack system enabled again.

I thought at first that it may have been programmed depending on which key fob was being used, but this is not the case.

I can confirm that for FL2009 models (and possibly earlier models as well) the anti-hijack setting is key-fob specific. This caught me out for a while when I thought I'd disabled the feature, but whenever I was in the car with my wife driving, the anti-hijack would be re-enabled. You need to set the feature in Maxidot twice, once for each key fob.

Hi, Thanks for that. The trouble is I don't have the maxidot so I guess my only option is to take it to a dealer to change the settings for me. Although, it now does the anti-hijack when I drive and I know for a fact I disabled it on my key when it was in the ignition and I pressed the unlock button next to the handbrake. So I think I'll try the same thing with my wife's key.

Thanks.
