Hello all, new car, new forum, new world of knowledge to delve into.

Inherited my dad's TDi '54 Octy Elegance a couple of weeks back, and ditched my 2000 SAAB 9-5 Aero. The SAAB was good fun, but after about 6 months of ownership I realised I didn't need to drive anywhere at 142mph and get to 60 in under 7seconds, I then spent the next four years growning and moaning about mpg, 30 on a good day, mid twenties around town! At the peak, £80 for a tank and barely 350miles! A quick punch of the calculator reveals I'll save £500 in fuel a year, £100 in tax and a drop down a few pegs from insurance group 17 - I should save on that too (how my current insurer charged my MORE to change over to the Skoda I can't fathom out).

Anyways I've already used the wealth of info stashed away in the forums to take off the (front) door panels to exchange the speakers, bit of a pig, but with info from here, it certainly made it possible. I'm not overly happy with the results mind. Forthcoming post in ICE section.

Cheers,

r0msey (user name's a clue to location!)

Welcome to the Skoda brand & the site.

Ins prob cost more because of the value of the car, happy ICE hunting
